They've got different part numbers, but I don't see a difference....

I am going to do a little work on one of them, and the spare i have is from an 02 900SS (I believe '02). I haven't crawled around on my floor enough to figure out if they are identical, but so far they look pretty much the same.

Anybody know if its a straight swap?

Slide Panda

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the difference is at the angle the tubes come up that meet the cans.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Ok. I think I will dissassemble the project monster to compare side-by-side. I tried to go "fiche"ing and compare all the part no.'s and sure enough, they are different regardless of which frame style or swingarm material monster you choose (from the SS).

This is for the 'one-off' 2-1 on the M900 i picked up. i've got one perfect condition arrow high mount. and i'm considering taking it off the shelf and putting it to use.

I'm 99% sure it is the angle of the pipes that fit into the cans.

Monster ones shoot more to the side, SS ones more rearward.

the elbow bend on the vertical cylinder are different. on the SS, it goes out more and bends close to the engine case and in front of cutout on the swingarm. unlike the monster that threads through the swingarm

also where the vertical exhaust pipe goes into the x-box are different. it has an angled stub that comes off the back for the vertical cylinder.

+1 due the different swingarm and shock mounting.

Pulled the oem M900 off the fixxer upper bike. the differences are incredibly minute.

The pipe coming out of the X is ever so slightly different in angle and length.

The exits of the X - where the slipons connect, are ever so slightly 'flatter' and actually a smidge longer.

it took me a few moments to note differences, they are really quite small.

Try to get stock cans from either bike to fit when using the wrong header and get back to us. ;D

well, since the M900 header is off the M900, I will see if it is possible to bolt up said SS 900 header to M900 with STEEL swingarm - since the steel and aluminum swingarm do differ in that area (as well as the internal shape at the axle adjuster end - learned that lesson).
