I think Ducati should pick them up and start cranking out retro Morinis and a handful of their newer bikes.  Although, the new engines are remarkably similar -- the old Morinis were 72 deg V twins.

I think the designers at Ducati would love to do some non-race or sport bikes (which is why we have had the ST, the Multi and the Diavel).  Owning another marque would allow that.

If anyone has ridden a Morini Camel, you'll understand why it was superior to the Cagiva/Ducati Elefant (which was a great bike too).

Plus, Morini's factory is in Bologna too, it's not like a huge management issue geographically.

i would love to see a modern take on a 3 1/2

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

So for just five and half million euros I can own my own motorcycle marque?

I'll take eight!

And yes, I think this would give a great outlet for design ideas that don't really fit the "Ducati image," for lack of a better phrase.

The article didn't say if the buyer would have to assume some debt?  If not, then it would be a steal for Ducati to buy it.

The way Italian receivership works, there will likely be debt and labor union costs but the buyer can get gov guaranteed loans to finance those.
