Where can I stay?

OUR HOUSE: So here's the deal, our house is tiny. 1100sqft. And our lot is only a 1/4 acre. But if you can find a spot to pitch a tent or a space to lay a sleeping bag/air mattress on the floor it is all yours. Or you could call dibs on the hammock on the front deck. The cool part is that we are only a few blocks from the beach and have ocean views from the front and back yards. All are welcome. Crash where you can.

CAMPING ELSEWHERE: There are some beautiful places to camp around here. I personally don't work hard all year just to pretend I'm homeless on the weekends, but you can find places HERE El Capitan is just gorgeous.

HOTELS: So you don't want to stay in a tiny house with three huge dogs, huh? Being a tourist town, there are a lot of hotels nearby, but that weekend they are likely to be expensive. But everything from a Motel 6 to a five star resort is available. I suggest booking a room early and using expedia, travelosity or hotels.com to find a deal. Can I rent a bike?

Hell Yeah! Santa Barbara Ducati is just down the road from our house and they rent Multistradas and HyperMotards. CHECK IT OUT


What is going on that weekend?

FRIDAY NIGHT: Friday we will likely just be eating, drinking and being merry. There are plenty of clubs and bars to hit if that is your thing.


SATURDAY: Big ol' bacon breakfast. I suspect people ill be trickling in throughout the day. Then there are options. I'm thinking the MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM in Solvang would be in order. The run up the 154 has some nice sweepers and some nice scenery. Perhaps some beach time if'n y'all want. Then booze. Lots and lots of booze.

SUNDAY: Group ride in the morning! As soon as the hangovers wear off, we will be taking the route shown HERE. A parade pace from Hwy 101 to the 150 out to Ojai. Breakfast at Eggs n Things. Then it is high speed twisty time up the 33. [moto] Back in Santa Barbara there will be lots of music, food, drink, hookers, blow, goats, Mongoloid Dwarves and mashed potatoes, because that's what kind of party this is going to be. I will be spatchcocking things. Also, there will be squirt guns filled with bourbon and a few prizes to given out for things like "longest traveled" "most modified bike" and "Angriest German".

Wow--sounds like fun, but I'll have to see.  I'm signed up to do a car trackday (as a passenger) on the 28th.  That's smack dab in the middle of the festivities.  Might be tough to try to pack that weekend too fun, however, I've always wanted to do a ride down to So Cal on the bike.  Gotta grammy that lives down that way, so if Enzo and I pop in we'll just be there for a few hours of debauchery.

You've been saying for the past five years you guys want to come to SB. And no you'd rather ride around in circles in a cage (not even driving!) than take the moto trip of a lifetime down the PCH AND get an opportunity to visit your grandmother (who you really haven't called enough recently and, let's face it, she's not getting any younger and would it really kill you to stop by and see her).

If you're riding down the PCH, I recommend leaving friday morning, to avoid the Winnebagos.

  Also, make sure your seat is properly attached, so after passing a line of 15 or so tourists at a stoplight, it doesn't come loose and you have to pull over (like Carl) to fix it and get stuck behind said tourists again... 

ALSO, make sure when you go to pass another line of tourists that is driving 30mph in a 55 zone, that you stay dangerously close to them and don't cross the double yellow.  Because, you'll find out (like Carl) that when you can see for miles ahead on a pin straight road, making a safe pass to get away from that black SUV riding your tail will just get you a $230+ ticket when said SUV pulls you over. 

ALSO, Don't (like me) get sick in Carmel. Even though they have the hottest female paramedics in the WORLD ( ),  The $3,000 ambulance ride, and the $13,000 hospital bill ain't worth it...

I don't know if that is gun speak, but there is a free and public place to shoot in the Los Padres forest about a 1/2 hour from my house. Just sayin'.
