How can I fix a bent handle bar? Is there a special way to do it? I have the nicer maguara bars from my S2R1000 and the left side is a bit tweaked. I was thinking about just putting it into a vice grip and having at it with a rubber mallet until it looks even...

I slid a straight 4 foot exhaust pipe over the handlegrip on mine once a long long time ago...turned the wheel against the opposite steering lock and just applied the right amount of force to tweak it back into shape

Trailer hitch receiver on a truck/suv works wonders as well. Fixed my buddy's crf450 bars that way a few months ago. Took longer to take 'em off and put 'em back on the bike than it did to actually fix 'em. Works just as well as a vice, but use your body weight instead of a hammer.

The magura bar may not bend back....its aluminum and may fracture, depending on the bend. Probably be best to do it with some larger bar over the end of it wirh a spring onside of the bar so that it does not kink internally.Not quite sure if I would want to bend one back , they can develop cracks that may be hard to see and the last thing you want at any speed is a handlebar failure. The only thing worse than that is running out of beer.

I'd agree with bagalbetty.  Best solution is to bite the bullet and replace. 

If you want to bend it back, carefully heat the area you want to bend using a propane torch or your favorite instrument of medieval Hungarian torture until is begins to brown light wood on contact after ~2 seconds or so, then douse it with a water-soaked old towel.  You should the able to bend it back using a pipe over the end.  If done right, the bar may regain its strength back in a few days.

With all the plastic around that area, kinda risky to do on the bike.   You may want so slightly deburr the edges of the risers to prevent stress concentrations.   ALuminum is a neat metal, but while you can design steel structures so they will not fail under fatigue stress, that is not possible to do for aluminum.

A long time ago a buddy of mine helped me bed back some stock bars - it was hard to get the angle right, but we used a heating torch, a workshop vise grip, and a long poll for leverage and gradually bent them back. Just take it slowly.

I wouldn't use the steering stop as a holding fixture with the Magura bars.  Definitely heat them.

remember aluminum goes from solid to vapor in a heartbeat.

Note sure with aluminum but I have down this with steel bars.  I am thinking the aluminum might split from freezing but then aluminum is more flexible than steel?   Plug the holes and ends with ductape and two corks, fill with water, put in freezer for two hours,  bend it however you want and it will not colapse.  It will take more force to bend but will stay in shape.

I put this on my bike after a friend binned it at low speed.  Bar is awesome.  Super comfortable and well made.  At 50 bucks, it was a great buy.
