Carbon Exhaust cans... How well do they hold up?

I'm getting ready to order up a Mivv Suono system for my bike and a couple good points came up in a discussion with a friend...

How well do the carbon cans hold up to the usual wear and tear of regular riding in regards to break down of the carbon and resin with heat and pressure? Also will a person expect any kind of negative effects with UV light (yellowing etc..)?

My bike is garage kept, but sits outside at work for 8-10 hours a day.

thems are the dangers of carbon fiber.  cheap vs the real deal and how well you take care of it.  i had some cf cans on my old 99 monster that looked as good 10 years later as they did the day they were made.

Agreed. I've had/have carbon fiber cans on both my Monsters. The first was a 2001 machine that had the cans since 2003 - when I sold the bike almost two tears ago, the carbon fiber looked as new (except for a slight scratch from a light fall). My present Monster has its Termi cans also for a few years now, and still they look nice and crisp

Both bikes were garage kept, but as this is also your case you should be OK. As for the time you are at work, try to keep the bike in the shade. Your new cans will most probably take a good few years of exposure in order to show signs of damage, but your plastic dash and handlebar instruments will take much less.

My Termi's suffered UV damage quite badly after two years in the sun at work.
Fixed the problem I quit work  [laugh]

Admittedly the sun UP here in Australia is strong ,
I have passed on the 695 to my wife
that also fixed the problem but now my S2R1000 gets a cover on it when ever it sits in the sun
even with the Arrows having what looks like a more robust finish than the Termis
lesson learned  [thumbsup]
I picked up one of those $2.00 eBay covers from China that scrunches up really small goes in my backpack
Also it keeps prying eyes off the bike attracting less attention
I am looking at re finishing the Termi's under instruction from the minister of finance.
