M1100S Termignoni performance ECU
«
on:
March 06, 2011, 07:17:26 AM »
I joined DMF when I picked up a new '10 M1100S back in January with the Termignoni cf exhaust, free flow air filter and the performance ECU. This online community is extremely knowledgeable and I hope to learn a lot from fellow members. I'm also new to the Ducati world as I've been riding for almost 20 yrs but only owned japanese bikes. It's also killing me to have bought the bike in Jan and gone immediately into storage until the snow and cold weather gives way to spring.
My question is I've searched through the forums to find out the details of the performance ECU, I've also searched the Ducati and Termignoni websites with no success. Since I can't ride the bike, I want to learn as much about it by the time riding season starts up. Does anyone have any detailed information on the changes from the stock ECU to the performance ECU? I only found info about a 5-8% gain in hp and torque values but I would like to know if the redline/revlimit has changed, are the gains noticeable on the bottom end or only at high rpms? Or anything else you might know.
Thanks in advance for your help.

i just put the kit into my m796 so the results might be a bit diff, but i'm guessing it's about the same...
i havent redlined yet, but it's supposed to raise it from 8500 to 9500 rpm i believe. overall fueling is much better, and low end fueling is way way better. much less jerkiness at low revs now... i have the 14t front sprocket coming to me, but i might not fit it now due to how much better it is with the new ecu.
overall responsiveness is better... in the end, the upgrade was totally worth it. even if you dont get the full kit, i would def suggest a ecu flash/air filter at the min.

M1100 DP "racing" ECUs (remember, there are two different ones depending on which Termi exhaust you bought for your M1100) do
not
raise the rev limit.
Whereas M696 DP "racing" ECU
does
raise the rev limit (although I cant remember from what to what).
No idea about M796.

Could you comment more on the differences of the two 1100 ECU's? I didn't realize there were two different ones. I bought the full Termi system. Which ECU does that mean, and what are the pros/cons? Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the info, I bought the Termi CF race system which included the 2 slipon cans, air filter and ecu, not the Termi race with the larger diameter collector pipes.
I'm dying for this winter weather to go away so that I can get some seat time on the M1100S. Excuse my lack of knowledge but what does the M1100 rev up to? I see the tach reads up to 12k rpm but I haven't run the bike and there's no info on the specifications, I mean Ducati's website says that peak power is at 7000rpm and torque at 6500rpm. Is there a rev limiter?

Rev limiter on M1100 cuts in at 8,250 or 8,500 (I cant remember which). Mine is reflashed to rev out to 9,500 but some here have gone higher than that.
Ducnaked
has his revving out to 10,000 or maybe even 10,500 (again.... I can't remember which.
DN
?).

Termignoni Full Exhaust System (so complete with new larger, low-slung headers) does not retain the exhaust flapper-gate or servo motor of the stock exhaust system. Therefore the ECU isnt looking to check for and run the servo on start-up. This ECU would be useful for any exhaust system which replaced the stock "Y" midpipe, its flapper-gate and associated servo motor.
Termignoni slip-on exhaust kit replaces just the end cans of the stock exhaust system. The stock "Y" midpipe, flapper gate and servo remain active and therefore the DP ECU supplied with this kit does need to hear back from the servo motor. Many who wanna dump the servo get around this by fitting Duc.EE in place of the servo.
What's Duc.EE? Hit the search button, it will reveal all

I think mines set at 9500 also and stock was 8250ish. I've got dyno time later this month so I can verify with actual numbers after.

Like most 2V Ducs with long manifolds revving much past 8500/9000 just makes noise.
Just sayin'.

mine revs to 10k. its useless but I hate the jerk of the limiter. I hit it on the apex of a turn on track once and it felt like I was going to lose it

That's the only reason I raised mine. It wasn't to gain anything other than piece of mind. The abrubtness of the limiter had scared the shit out of me more than once.

Thanks for the info, since the power is peaking out around 7k, I didn't see a need to rev high but needed to know if and where the rev limiter was. I'm used to higher revving japanese bikes so I'm sure I'll love having more power on the bottom end of the scale which means I won't need to rev it like crazy anymore.
