I have an 07 S2R1000 with full Arrow exhaust. I bought the bike without the red key so I want to get the immobilizer removed and thought I would have the ECU reflashed to DP specs. Will I need to open the airbox? Is using a K&N filter in the stock box sufficient?  I'm not looking to get every little HP out of it just want it to run well.

Thanks

I'm running the DP program on my '07 S2R1K with fully cored exhaust and dirty stock filter with no issues.  A K&N will work better but probably not noticeably.

no need to open the airbox.

The K&N will be fine as is.

I've got the same set up but with Spark exhaust.

I do however put my open cover/lid on when I'm going on a long trip (300kms plus riding days) just for breathing purposes.

You don't have to make any changes to the fueling at all.  You can have just the immobilizer removed.

Fueling with even stock intake/exhaust can use some work.

I know, but was going to have it remapped to help it out with the full Arrows. I was afraid it then may run too rich with the stock airbox. Sounds like I'll be fine. I can always open it later if need be.

There's just fine, and there's HOLY SHIT.  I never had a problem with the way my bike ran on a completely stock system, but ever since I tacked on a 14t sprocket up front, it's made me wonder what else I can get out of the old girl.  Once you put a few thousand miles on a bike, you just get used to it.  But once you get a little taste of what your bike COULD be, it's a new ballgame Smiley

I put a full exhaust on my s2r, removed the O2 sensor, and installed an open airbox w/ K&N filter and the DP ECU. After resetting the TPS and adjusting the fuel/air trim I put the bike on a dyno. The air/fuel mix was way off. The tech started taping up the airbox to the point where he told me to just put a stock cover back on. The DP ECU only has a slight amount of trim adjustment and the only fix is a power commander (which they don't make for this bike) or a Rapid Bike (which the tech advised against due to lousy customer support). So I guess the stock setup is it. If anyone has a suggestion I'm interested too.

Nemisis ECU... costly, but fixes all the problems.  Spend more and it'll tune itself.

pcv57 - I take it you were running lean w/ the open box and DP ECU. Did you test after installing the stock lid?
