Hi everyone,

I have a general intro thread in the intro section and was directed here, so here I am :)

I live in Annandale, work at 17th & K.  I usually ride a little DR250SE to work. I also have an assortment of dirt bikes and a TL1000S.

I just bought a Monster 620 for my wife that's in need of a little TLC so I'll be poking around here for tech info [thumbsup]

And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

One the I forgot to mention in your intro thread was the belts. If the cam belts are original they will need to be replaced. They spec on them is 12k miles or 2 years of age for replacement.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Thanks, I'm not sure if they are original or not.  I just went through the receipts for service and didn't see belts listed, but it looks like he only saved receipts from when work other than standard servicing was done.  I was planning on doing them very soon to be on the safe side. I'd also kinda like to add some blingy belt covers - any recommendations?

SpeedyMoto or Rizoma seem to be the default go to choices...

Also depends on how much you want to spend on them. If you want something cheap you can get some decent Carbon Fiber ones on eBay. Or even do some cool mod on the ones already on the bike, like slots or clear covers. [thumbsup]
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

Yeah look around on the site there's a few options. Cheapest and easiest is a hit from the old rattle can. But folks have taken stock ones, cut various windows and inserted plex or wire mesh or etc etc

Shift-tech makes some nice carbon fiber ones. And then there's Bens mentions of Speedy- moto and Rizoma. But those are billet based. The speedy-moto ones just cover the pullys and leave the belts exposed. The rizoma ones a shaped like the factory ones, by have significant cut outs with plex windows. There's been one or two horror stories from folks with open belt covers, that have the misfortune of tossing a belt to a foreign object getting sucked into the works. So if you're the paranoid type, then some sort of full coverage ones will be best.

PJsParts.com is the best source for Rizoma goodies in the US
