Anybody go?

It was colder than was originally expected but it didn't rain, so I was happy.

Dropkick Murphys killed it.

Yep - took a passle of folks. Hadn't bee is years and it's gotten a bit over sized.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

I've only been the last few years and it seemed like it was about the same size.  Maybe more people because Dropkick Murphys are a bigger band.  And then there was DJ Pauly Douche.  I was just stoked that it wasn't raining.  The last couple years it's been mid 30's and raining.  Which cause serious sound issues when Flogging Molly played in 09.

it's expanded a lot. I've lived in the area since before it started, and down the block from it's previous location.

First year at RFK we got VIP tix and it was us and maybe a couple hundred folks in VIP total. In VIP there was no wait for a beer or the head.

Flogging Molly headlined that year too. Plenty of folks hung around for their performance, but nowhere near what was still there from the DKMs at this year.

While I don't regret the funds spent, as I made the economy work  [drink] IF the headlining bad hadn't been the DKMs, Flogging Molly or someone else with sufficient draw (for me) I'd be hesitant to go again.

It's always been a shit-show of rookie drinkers, but now it's a HUGE shit show...

St. Paddy's Day is always a shit-show of rookie drinkers.

I can't count the number of "Drink Like a Champion Today" shirts I saw.  The number of jerkoffs I saw passed out on the grass was impressive too.  It definitely seems likes it's frat boys/sorority girls and underage knuckleheads with fake ID's running around.  Not that the the security guys actually check ID's anyway.

Ken Casey made a comment that this was the first time DKM had been invited to Shamrockfest.  That's just retarded.  Dropkick Murphys are probably the biggest band they'll get and would have been for the last 10 years.  I don't know.  I haven't checked but maybe they've just never really been available with all of the shows they play in Boston during this week.  Either way, I was stoked to see them for the 21st time.

Don't forget Oktoberfest in Muenchen.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

New Year's Eve parties back in Italy! Absolutely the best parties of my life!
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

True enough... I had my years of rigorous training during Rugby and hashing to fully cement my pro certifications  [drink]

Did he say it was the 1st invite? Or 1st time they played? I'd have been shocked that it was 1st invite - granted a number of years back they hadn't attained the public notice they have now, that combined with less 'generic' crowd appeal that some other bands might have  - invites might not have come then. But hard to believe it's the 1st invite. I figure they usually have some place better in their minds, like Boston, to play within a few days of St Pats.

I'm pretty sure he said invite.

Punk rock bowling looks pretty bad ass.  A coworker and I are probably going for the weekend.  DKM and The Bouncing Souls?  Hell yeah.
