Hopefully grabbing my first bike here soon, found this one
Monster S2R 1000
~4500 miles
"I had it serviced at the north scottsdale ducati. I don't have any of the paper work. They may have it in the computer. Just bought a new battery for it and the tires have low miles in them."
He has it listed for $5k on Craigslist

Might have a guy from GOAZ Motorcycles come with me to check it out, can they do on location check? I went in a while ago and thought I heard something like that. When I was looking for a car we took to the serious considerations to a BMW indy for a pre-purchase inspection.

One concern is this rear wheel.. what is going on there

Thanks guys & gals

Not a good enough shot of the wheel, to address your concern.
Woohoohoohoo! Two personal records! For breath holding and number of sharks shot in the face.

I'm not sure if I understand your question about the rear wheel. That model and year of monster comes with a single sided swingarm, some people here will shorten it to the abbreviation SSS. The swingarm has only one bar running back to the rear wheel, so from the right side it looks as if the rear wheel is 'floating' in space. Most bikes historically have had a bar running back from the frame to both sides of the rear wheel axle, this is just a different design, and it looks cool. Other than that I can't see anything that you might think is wrong with it. Don't worry, if that was it, we all ask 'obvious' questions when we are new.

Sorry, my netbook doesn't have that good of a display, and due to your recent intro to Ducati and to here I did not know if you were aware of the swingarm configuration. I assumed that either that was what you were asking about, or at least I would start there and go forth with trying to answer your question. If you specify what you are talking about when you ask a question, then the members here will give you as much FREE information as we are able. We are here to help each other out. I welcome any newcomer to the world of Ducati, the friendships we develop here in our humble forum, and I just wanted to help you out. I am sorry if I offended you. I'm also really bad at telling when somebody is messing with me or using sarcasm even in real life, so on the internet it is even more difficult for me to figure it out.

well for all our OLD eyes, we missed that in that little fricking picture you posted.

looks like it could easily be taken off (single sided swingarm makes it that way) and repainted

Is that a phone photo ?

If you could take a photo w, a better camera , then we could identify what has actually happened to the wheel / spoke(s) .

It would also help to take the photo out in the Sun light with out a shadow on the Wheel.

Does the blemish have any sort of texture to it?

[laugh] I thought the black dot with the grey circle around it could be seen easily. Yeah, I had the same thoughts on painting, might have to do that..

Yea, he replied to my email via blackberry. His ad was scarce and email too so I don't want to really harass this guy to where he wants no business with me (vs. taking a trip there in person to check it out)

haha oh okay

Just seems that with such low miles and low price, somethin fishy is goin on

Heath

Without a better picture anything anyone says is going to be pure speculation.  With that being said here is mine.  Looks like water sat on the wheel and left a dried up puddle of dirt.

Does it rub off? Is it rusty? Is the paint missing?
