Was thinking about taking Friday off and heading up there.  If my clutch parts come in today and I get it back together in time...

Weather is calling for rain most of the weekend.

If any of you have a change of plans and want to go tomorrow let me know.

Ouch!

Well riding will definitely put a smile on your face but it certainly won't help the pain!!

The drugs will though!     Grin  waytogo

Started going up today but on the way up my pal's clutch cable broke. So we limped down the hill and spent the rest of the "ride" installing a new cable.

Anyhow, probably won't make it up this weekend since there is supposed to be rain but we are going up next week for sure. Maybe Thursday (04/14)??
I'll keep posting in this thread with the deets.

The more the merrier!

Robert - your clutch will be done by then right?

Finished the clutch install last night.  Installed braided line, filled, and bled the system so she's ready to go for a test ride after work.  The clutch replacement went well thanks to copies of the factory shop manual, a Haynes manual, and an online parts fiche...gotta love the internet  applause

Yeah, I can't imagine what it would be like having to "wing" it when it comes to doing something like the clutch.

That's what we have Duck-Stew for!  waytogo

Oh, wait... orangelion03 doesn't have a Duc anymore...   Undecided

Replacing the clutch on the 999 was a piece of cake.  I called Stew a few times to make sure I wasn't gonna make the beast with two backs anything up too badly, and away I went.  I <3  dry clutches!   Grin

I miss my flawlessly running Monster...

Went for a test ride yesterday afternoon to check the clutch.  Works great!  "Unfortunately, sometime between the last ride when I discovered the slipping clutch and yesterday's test ride, the carbs decided to malfunction.  The engine was stumbling and running rough, and I thought it might be low on fuel.  I turned onto a side street to turn the petcock to reserve...as i was making a u-turn, the bike stumbled and I fell over.  Yes, just like the trike rider on Laugh In (I'm old).  I picked up and rode to the nearest gas station to fill up.  As I was leaving the pump, I smelled gas, looked down and saw that fuel was pouring from the overflow tubes, both of them.  As the fuel flow is controlled by a vacuum valve on the petcock, it stopped when I shut it off.  Anyway, either something got screwed up when i removed the pollution control parts while I was waiting for clutch parts to arrive, or the fall-over knocked crap loose in the bowls and stuck the valves open.  Good thing the weather is supposed to be bad this weekend...

Did I mention I miss my Monster?  Idjit... bang head

Karma...  Kiss

Seriously, though... Sucks that you're having so many problems.  Glad you're okay after your tip-over.

Wait...  Didn't you buy a Japanese bike because you wanted something more reliable for commuting and longer trips?   Wink
