My 796 is finally here!

Hey beautiful people of DMF, my bike is finally here!! Intro>>
http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=45559.0
So, after close to 3 months of waiting and a ton of shipping and registering issues my brand spankin' new Dark 796ABS finally arrived. The truck came to drop off Arietta(her name) last wednesday and I spent thursday, friday and saturday getting her road legal(plates and register) and on sunday finally did a 100 mile ride and it was FUN!!
So far I've done the Evo tech tail tidy and removed the fork reflectors, next up will be the Comp Werkes slip ons, CRG bar end mirrors and a Duc E.E so i can get rid of the flapper motor.
Let me know what you think!
P.S Thanks for the awesome community you guys have got going here, I'm so happy I can finally stop being a lurker!

Felicidades tocayo!!! Keep it safe! I hope you live outside of San Juan. If I ever move back I will make sure to do the same thing since my only experience with Ducati PR was me knowing more about the bikes than the sales person and compared to most people here, I know very little of bikes.

HAHA! Gracias Hermano!!(thanks bro! for the spanish challenged)
Yeah, Ducati PR is plagued by terrible service and absurd prices but that could not keep me away from these beautiful pieces of high speed art. And yes sadly I do live in San Juan but it's not that bad I just stay far from it when I ride. To many a 100 mile ride may not be much but in an island that is 100m X 35m it's not too shabby, great roads, curves and mountains to hit once you're out of the city... Hit me up whenever you come back to visit and we can go for a ride!!
*edit for terrible spelling...

I'm relocating to Chile next month, so it will be a while before I get to visit the family. Good news is that after the relocation period, they might send me back to PR. Is there anyone other than Ducati PR that can do the maintenance? If not, you might have to invest in all the tools to do it yourself. I'm not sure if I could take my baby to them.

Nope, no one on the island that I'd trust, especially the dealer. I'm actually kind of surprised the dealer is still open there are not many Ducs around. I already started ordering the simpler tools like shim gauges, chain adjusting spanner and the SSS wrench. Luckily I'm pretty mechanically inclined from working on my Subaru and other bikes, I have never taken any of my vehicles to the dealer for work, i have a "trust no one" policy on my babies...Oh and I have something I'm pretty sure even the local dealer does not have.... Access to DMF and it's unending library of information.

Amen!
I don't think they know how to even use a PC. I'm basing my opinion on just one visit and I did not speak to any of the techs, but the sales guy simply left a bad taste in my mouth. It's awesome you're doing your own service. Now I know who will be helping me when I move back.

How is this for leaving a bad taste? When I first got interested in getting a Ducati, first thing I did after research is call them up to see what they had in stock. The guy a spoke to was the owner and apparently the only sales guy they have, I told him I was gonna come by 'cause I was extremely interested in getting a Monster(basically told him I was coming in, money in hand and was sure I was gonna buy a bike). It was around 2:15pm no where near regular closing time for any store/ mall/ dealer etc.. He then proceeded to tell me to come by the next day around 10AM 'cause he was about to leave, to me this this was kinda shady since in my experience no dealer does this when they are sure of a sale. But, w/e I was excited. Next day 10am on the clock and since it's a 40 minute ride to the dealer I decide to call ahead... No answer, half an hour, call again, no answer and this keeps going through the day. Finally I find out that the dealers phone number is the guys cell phone, another red flag... He finally decides to pick up and gives me a couple of excuses about how he forgot he was gonna be closed that day for x and y reasons and that he had totally forgotten. At this point I'm pissed but as far as the Duc, I wanted it. So I went ahead and told him, "listen, I want to buy the bike, No financing, no Bull, money in hand" and he said Ok that's great come by tomorrow and I'll meet you here at exactly 11am.
Fast forward the next day I make the 40 minute trip to the dealer which actually turned into an hour and a half 'cause of traffic and guess what? The dealer is closed, no one is around. I proceed to call him a bunch of times with no answer and a million voice mails, never got a call back...
So, I made off a lot better by buying it in the states and bringing it in.....

Wow, that's awful. It might have been the owner who I spoke to while I was down there. He was talking to me like if I had no idea what a Ducati was. Even worse was when he started making shit up. That's when I knew I was talking to a complete idiot.
I was hoping to buy a new 1100 here in the US and ship it down to Chile. The wife poopooed that idea when she read that people in Santiago don't drive very well, kinda like San Juan. Now I'm hoping to see if there is a track down there and if I can find a relatively cheap track bike.

Haha! Well it probably won't be a Duc, I hear they are extremely expensive in S.A. but i'm pretty sure you can find an extremely cheap track rat to keep your riding addiction calm while you're there. But you never know maybe find one of those gems hidden in a shed....

Great pic! Congrats
Thank you very much!
Here are the girls, except the Kawa(it's not picture friendly since I'm working on the engine at the moment) and their big brother Bruiser. I know you guys are not fans of harley but i still like mine... and the V-star was the only way I could get my dad to ride with me... that thing is a Limo compared to the others....

do the San Juan to Ponce run in 45 minutes flat.
I did that in a rental car running late for a meeting and wished I could have been on a bike. I'd rather do the San Juan to Mayaguez run through Barranquitas and Adjuntas. Man I miss that island, reminds me of home.

congrats on the bike, The 796 in black is killer. Good choice on the fender eliminator kit but as far as the CW slip on's, Well I'm partial to the Mivv Suona's but to each their own I guess. Enjoy the bike!!

Both great runs!! My personal favorite is heading east to Fajardo then grabbing the Panoramic road heading west right through the mountains in la Cordillera Central. Easily take from 5-7 hours of pure mountain road curves....
You're welcome back anytime and you got a riding buddy here!
Might not look like it but there's roads through all this....
