It's not just people trying to buy things on CL. When my friends were starting to get into riding at Cal Poly, they were sifting through CL. One guy didn't want them coming to his house to look at the bike so they arranged to meet him in the Albertson's parking lot with cash in hand to buy the bike right then if they liked it. The arrangement was to meet the next day at 10am. 10am tomorrow rolls by and we're out in the Albertson's parking lot wondering what's taking him so long. 10:30 we're giving him the benefit of the doubt when he doesn't pick up his phone. 11:00 rolls around and we finally get through to him. He sold it the previous night when someone showed up at his house to buy it. WTF? He didn't even try to call and tell us that the meeting was off. Total douche.

People are not nearly as polite as they used to be. Why is it that people don't value others' time?

Yes, when someone is being even slightly considerate, I thank them profusely, 'cos it seems that consideration, genteelness, and manners are becoming rare these days.

About fifteen phone calls from this prospective buyer for the Kwak. Now if he backs out, I am gonna be SUPER PO'd.

I bought my SV off of CL, and had a minimum amount of craziness. Showed up to look at the bike with $300 in hand to hold the bike and a cashiers check a week later. She was asking a little high, I offered a reasonable amount, and we wound up splitting the difference.

Only craziness was that the PO wanted to hold the title until the check cleared, meaning no registration/riding until I got the title. A quick "Hey, this is a check issued by my bank as a payout for a loan and you've got a copy of my license and the VIN for the bike - if the check doesn't clear call it in as stolen" got her to rethink that, and I was riding the next day.

Good story, bevel.

I got rid of the Kwak about an hour ago. I did take $100 off, and I was fine with it. After all- I am that much close to cleaning out the garage!!!!

congrats on the sale.

I like having yard sales.  I go in with a neighbor and let them host - no break-ins for me here  [laugh]  I sell sober until about noon, then start drinking and slashing prices, each getting more severe as they afternoon fads away.  I usually come home with very few items left  ;D

Thanks.

Mitt, I tend to have a 50% off @ noon, 75% off @3, then start selling lots @4:30 and end up with nothing left!!!
