I was just on the AMA site and noticed that they have a membership option(auto renewal) that included roadside assistance.  It's $39 for the year.  Not a bad deal.  Didn't realize its like AAA for bikes.

It's a good idea to support an entity that tries to protect Motorcyclist's rights to ride as we have been now, in the past and in the future.

I've been doing it this way for a while now.  Nice to have the peace of mind of roadside assistance while supporting an organization that fights for our rights.

Yep, and for what it's worth, I belong to both.  Auto renewal in AMA and life in NRA.

I wish everyone on here would join, it's a shame we have so few members compared to how many we have riding two wheels. - Gene

it depends on where you are.

i had the AMA roadside while living in NYC.. i popped a sprag bearing and called.  2 hours later, they called back and said no one had motorcycle capability, make the beast with two backsyouverymuch.  they said i had a $50 allowance on a tow, so i called around and 2 minutes later i found a shop with a flatbed.  the tow was $250, so my $40/annual dues got me $10 of value for that one tow.

i still was out $200 but like i said, it depends on where you are.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I find this hard to believe.  Not saying you're lying.  Its just that with all the MC shops here in NYC, they couldn't find a capable transporter? >:(  I can understand if you break down somewhere in bummake the beast with two backs Wyoming, but in NYC?

The capable transporter has to be willing to work for whatever AMA pays.  Anyway, back to AMA.  They are not as big and wealthy as people think.  The smaller the membership the less they can do for us.  That is why I am a member.

Howie has explained what happened to me.  There are plenty of tows who can haul a bike but none that will tow for 50 bux
