I'm only 15 minutes from Manitou Springs.  Return trip, do-able.

Had dinner at the Stagecoach Inn......tricked my mother in law into eating Rocky Mountain oysters.....it was a successful day!

Saw tons of bikes, only one Ducati, it was a red multi with saddle bags.

I'm around this entire week.  Going to Garden Of the Gods tomorrow.

There were some pretty good gags going on......no pukage.  Funny as hell!

This place is motorcycle riding heaven!  Weather is a little funny but its gorgeous!  All the friendly people are tearing a hole in my universe!

Went to REI yesterday, bought a hammock, then went to Garden Of The Gods.  Breathtaking!

Tomorrow I will be wearing the tourist hat, climbing aboard the Cog Train and heading up to The Peak.

Saw the Phantom Cafe thread.  Is that still happening on Tuesdays?  Might trot the wife out tonight.....

Man, just got back from Victor and Saw Phantom Canyon Road......that was a pretty good hike!

Haven't stepped foot into the Crystola Bar and Grill yet......it is stumbling distance from where I'm staying!

What's a great restaurant in these parts?

Phantom Canyon road isn't bad, but the Shelf Road is a lot more intense, same area, check Your map may have been what You were on cause it leaves Victor to the South.. Good ride on a the right bike!!

flynbulldog, those are places where I apply the XR650, no way in hell am I going to beat the Multistroodle on those roads. I would much rather kick off a $3000.00 bike than a Duc, I would be more than willing to ride them with You whenever You want, also Oak Creek Grade and Temple Canyon are runs I rip up as much as possible, damn good practice roads. If You know the Shelf Road, It's quite unforgiving if You fall down because "down" is a long way down and You never know when You will meet a Rancher, or a tourist going way too fast on the only lane shared... been there, ate that, not fun.  Anyway, hollar when You want to ride, the XR needs a flogging, and I too...

Hmmm, maybe I'm not thinking of the same place. I did the Phantom Canyon road south of Cripple Creek a couple of years ago in my Lexus.

Ended up in Canyon City then came back on the other side of the river. twas no big deal - in-fact my wife said she wanted to go with me and do it two up.

Is it harder than it seemed in the car?

I have bikes that I baby, this MTS is not going to be one of them.

We might not ride the same on these roads, yes  You can drive a car quite comfortably on them at a good pace, would be a nice drive,I have backed a Kenworth cement mixer several miles on Phantom Canyon road when they were rebuilding the bridges, not the same ride on the XR. There is a differen't approach to every angle, I know I am more comfortable on a more dirt oriented bike in those conditions, others have a choice of Their own, unless You have some modifications on a MTS, it would be a challenge. Maybe I am wrong, and yes I baby My MTS and keep it on asphalt, but then I have other bikes to abuse on gravel roads. Wnen You want to go for a ride, give Me a hollar, I would love to see a new MTS in action on dirt, as for Me, I'll flog My Honda...
