NYC Tutoring?

I originally posted this in the NYMMC so forgive the double post but I thought it would get more views here: I live in Brooklyn, NY and I've been riding for a few years now, but just recently started taking care of own maintenance. I've learned A LOT from this site, but still I'm feeling really timid about doing the valve check and changing the belts. I've found that with everything i've done so far, I really have no frame of reference for when i get it right. I'm cautious with my work but it makes for a nervous rider, and I'm well overdue for my 12,000 mile service. Anyone in the NY area going to be doing their major service anytime soon and I could tag along? Or would anyone be interested in being a sort of tutor? Obviously, we'd figure out compensation for your time. I keep my bike in my painting studio in Bushwick so it's a good place to work, and I'm a real quick study.
