These were taken just south of Brisbane yesterday afternoon.  Straight after taking these photos, my wife and I drove straight into the eye of the storm.  Man did we see some awesome lightning shows including a big strike that hit the ground with a massive bang about 30 metres from the car.  Excitement plus.  I am going to try and work out how to get video on my website so I can share those as well, or else I might just stick them on youtube.

Great photos Brian.  I have yet to photograph lightning.  It's on my list though.

No, I'm in Victoria, not a lot of lightning (except at 2am) but it does rain a lot.  Roll Eyes

It looks like you took these shots when it was still fairly light.  So can I ask what exposure time were you using?

1 second at 22 f/stop with a 24-70mm lens.  No the ideal lens but I make it work for me.  It is a $1600 lens so it isn't rubbish.  I was pretty impressed with these because usually I would put a filter over the lens to darken it up so I can use a longer exposure, but I actually did these without my filter and also without my remote control, so from a photographer's point of view, I was pretty impressed.

On another note - I picked up the bike this arvo.  Drove it home planning on going for a good solid ride with a mate who has a Harley, and just as I pulled in the driveway at home to drop off some stuff, it started raining.  The rain stopped and I had a good ride with the missus on board but by the time it stopped I missed my chance to ride with my mate.  Hopefully will get a chance next week.  As for the Monster, as you guys probably already know, words can't even describe it.  I have had nothing but Jap bikes and the feel of a twin was every bit as wonderful as I always dreamed it would be.  After riding the bike for an hour, it felt like I had been on it for years.  I feel so comfortable on it right from the word go.  I have never been more positive that I have made the right decision about something before, even when I married my perfect match.

I really hope that all of our friends down in Tasmania that have fires raging all around them at the moment are all safe.

I'm hoping that our Rural Fire Service will start asking us to be deployed, I gotta tell ya, I wouldn't hesitate.

I'M IN.

No mate, but not surprised... Wouldn't want to upset the love in that you four have. Wink

This northern beaches person shall remain nameless due to possible police interaction re the status of his helmet.
Spotted heading in the direction of Oxford Street , leading two other bikes, one a monster of multible colours, three to be precise. The second an S2R with pearly white wheels.
