So...I did it...

ZLTFUL

After holding out for a year...after about 3 dozen interviews and subsequent turn downs (either on my part or on the part of the hiring company) after a WHOLE shit load of "No thank you, I am grossly overqualified for that position and wouldn't be happy" replies to emails and phone calls...after being offered no fewer than 4 "perfect" positions only to be reniged on for reasons ranging from "budget limitations" to "the guy you will be replacing still hasn't quit yet"...

After all of that, I have finally gotten the best revenge I could imagine on my former employer. I didn't turn them into the Business Software Alliance for the countless number of pirated software licenses they are using. I didn't report them for the countless violations HR used when hiring/promoting people. I didn't rag on them publicly for the countless shitty policies they have in place/create new every day as the situation demands.

None of those things could have said "Go make the beast with two backs yourselves" better than what I did to them.

I got a new job. It pays grossly more money...It offers a much more focused work environment. It offers substantially better benefits. And the team I will be working with/in charge of is a group of actual IT professionals versus the "I know a little bit about computers" twit they had overseeing me at my previous job.

I am now in charge of a large scale encryption project for a large enterprise environment. I don't want to mention the company's name because they currently have no data encryption in place.

It really and truly is a dream shot for me. I get to go into a major project and run it how *I* see fit. I get to make the decisions and control the show. And the bonus is, I am the expert on the project. I don't know everything about the particular encryption software/protocols they are using but unlike my last 2 employers, they are sending me to the vendor for a month and then having a vendor rep on site throughout the project. It will be nice to actually get the training I need to do my job rather than being forced to bandaid fix things as problems arise.

I start Monday but most of next week will be onboarding, organizing my team and getting things rolling.
I am very excited because my previous employer let me list the problems we had, develop solutions for them, research cost/benefit ratios, engage vendors, get quotes, set up planning for execution, and then yanked the rug out from under me each time.
Now their IT department is floundering constantly (always nice to have a knowledgable inside source to feed me the gorey details over lunch). None of the issues...the MAJOR issues they had are resolved and they have no one in place who can even begin to fathom where to start on solutions.

I know it sounds sort of petty and vindictive but that company had people that had been in the industry for over 20 years walk in and tender resignations with the reason given being, "Tired of waiting for my turn to be fired". Any time I can thumb my nose at them and their absolutely unethical and just downright shitty practices, I am happy to do it.

But as I said above, I got the best revenge...I am moving on and moving up.

Hi-Ho...Hi-Ho...it's off to work I go...   [drink]

Awesome , glad to hear somebody is really happy with their employment situation.

Onward and upward.

I can just imagine how you must feel about your previous employer floundering about like a caught Fish just landed and flopping about with NO chance .

Good on you Z.

Hate to agree here, but yep, especially in this economy. My company is still looking for more "waste". I hope your situation is Legit.

Congrats! [clap] Oh... by the way, what's a job? [roll] [laugh]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

I agree with you, it is the best revenge.

My former employer is now involved in 4 lawsuits and is being investigated by the state AG's office for ethics violations.  I am not saying I had anything to do with that.  I'm not saying I didn't, either.

So, while being successful is the best revenge, being successful while your former employer goes down in flames is even better.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
