There are no stupid questions when it comes to modifying a Monster Cool

Crisper sound, not quite as much bass.

CF is easy to cut, but make sure you don't inhale the dust (there will be dust)

I found mine are crisper but they do make it louder as well.  I much prefer them now than before.

I cut about 80mm off my Akropovic pipe and it did make it much deeper.
But then my bike does really start to make any noise until about 6 thou.

How does the CF respond to being cut, is it comparable to cutting plastic, would a cut off wheel work well?

Like plastic without the melting  waytogo
Cut off wheel is fine, but for the packing material (--- wool) and the perforated steel inner tube you need something else.

Mine are a little louder and they look alot better. Make sure you wear gloves, a long sleeve shirt(you may want to throw it away afterwards), a breathing mask and protective glasses. Here are some pics of when I did mine at the end of 09.

here's my before and after of coring out the stock pipes.  I actually modified stock pipes from a different bike so I still had the originals if I screwed something up.  It still gives you an idea of the sound difference.  The main thing I did was open up the ends and remove all the steel wool.

Does this website not support embeding videos?  Here's the link instead...

I cut 7" off of my Termis after doing the ol tail choperoo....looks waaaaaaaaaay better and sounds like they should have in the first place.  Cutting was way easier than I thought it would be using a dremel for the carbon, a box cutter for the fluffy stuff, and big freakin scissors for the mesh sleeve inside (if i remember right)

That looks and sounds great.   Love that deep rumble sound.

Question (please excuse me if this is a stupid question. I am new to this), can the metal bands be taken off the top OR the bottom of the exhaust? I would like to do this mod but I have "Ducati Performance" written from the top down on my exhaust. If I cut down past the wording I will be taking way too much off. Can the cut be made from the bottom the same as the top?

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

This topic sounds like its for CF, what about Titanium? I plan on getting a set of SilMotos, and with th etail chop they are too long. Is the method the same? Any one do it to new cans? I feel leary about spending 1K and then cutting them up.

You should be able to either end depending on what pipes ya got...from what i can tell (and I could be painfully wrong) most Monster pipes are basically straight, as in a cone shape, except for the newer stock cans and some of the aftermarket ones made for them.  Just some are ovals and some are round.  If yours are not cones then you should be fine removing either end and get to cutting.  After I removed the rivets in mine and took it apart, it was just a carbon tube.  I just looked at the pictures of your 900 and it shouldn't be a problem.
