Well I got the starting issue sorted (?) but it's been stuttering at around 4-5k rpm's for around 2 years now.  It's st-st-starting to get on my nerves.  Idles great, great WOT, only does it at lower speeds.  Ideas?  Original coils & carb parts except for stage 2 jets & needles.  Though they're like 7 years old now.

probably worn out needle jets.

Check.  Why couldn't it be something easy like a coil...  I loathe the idea of taking the carbs off.  I'm never going to get the float bowl screws out easily (still have the phillips head ones).

I had the same problem a few years back, adjusted the needle jets and all is well

Just installed the factory pro kit on my old school 98 750 and I can say without a doubt that the original screws are a major PITA to crack loose. Its like some huge gorilla torqued them in there.  I eventually was able to crack them loose but I was getting close to the heads of the bolts being mush.  So glad the Factory pro came with replacements.  I had to use some liquid wrench and actually smack the screw driver into the head to get it to bite deeper.

Yep, I fully anticipate having to dremmel a slot in the OEM screws.  That actually bugged me about my kit (Dynojet); didn't come with the screws.
