I know this has been done before but hey i'm bored at work. Last week I finally got the 999 shock slapped on my bike and thought I would just post some pics of the process. Also I figured I would give a brief description of how I done did it. So..herrrrre we go!
First thing you have to do is find a shock to work with. I chose a 999 shock that I found on ebay for $75.00 and once I got it in my hot little hands I turned it over to my mechanic to be gone through and to have an adult size spring put on. While the shock was away at the shop I had time to prep the bike for it's triumphant return. Since the 999 shock has a nifty reservoir sticking out the side you have to remove the oil breather box thingy which means you will have to relocate the reg/rect as well as the coil and coil bracket. A friend of mine provided a piece of aluminum that was then cut and shaped to hold these two pieces. As far as the oil breather I just ran a hose from the breather up to the airbox and am calling it good for now.
Big thanks goes out to He Man, my buddy Kevin, and Eric over at Dirty Pirates in Phoenix
