Hello all:

Name's baski, originally from 1-800-India  Tongue now residing in Stillwater, OK ... been lurking around for a while, finally decided to sit down and post an intro.

First bike was a 95 suzuki samurai, a little 100cc 2stroke bike, and odds are you've never heard of it. Strictly speaking, it was a pos even by then (international) standards and they don't sell it anywhere, anymore. But it was (and still is) my precious pos Smiley ... mine still runs (I think), garaged back home.

Second bike was an 06 honda shadow 600, good bike, served me well as my sole commute during my grad school days in TX, sold it when I moved to OK.

Third time's the charm! Got bitten by the duc bug at the first sight of a dark m695 in the parking lot where I used to park my shadow. Decided to get one when it was time for an update. The news of this superfantabulous update called 696 put me in a dilemma. The initial pictures made me skeptical, especially the exhaust cans and the missing half of the frame Smiley Then the pics of a white 696 with termi systems and black subframe started floating on the net, and that perked up my interests. All doubts were cleared when I saw one in the flesh. Got myself a white 696, have had it for a couple of weeks now, what can i say ... my god, it's full of stars!!!

The bike is completely stock for now, will post pics when I manage to get a camera, a lake and my bike together!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

PS: pics of my 2-stroke after my next India trip, won't be pretty though, some unnecessary parts are missing (like 10% of the handlebar, it had a 'all natural' tail chop) .. still rideable though Roll Eyes

The last bike I remember there is the Hero Honda!!

I went back after a 4 year break- the change is just unfathomable. The Japanese tie-ups have sort off disappeared, looks like TVS Suzuki, Kawasaki Bajaj  (Hero Honda still exists I think) have ditched their partners, at least on the business side. The Japanese makers have set up their own shops. BTW, Yamaha I heard was bringing R1 and MT01 to the Indian market - plus there is this busa craze going around after its debut in a movie. There is a serious market (black/gray?) for sport bikes now. I can't help but wonder ... where the hell can you ride one outside the tracks .. you can break speed limits in neutral!?

If you go back now, you will find a country turned on its head (as far as the cities are concerned)!

Congrats on the 695  waytogo

PS: In my mind there is only one king though ... The Royal Enfield 350  Cool
