Hey everyone.

I was wondering what happened to the meets at Rhodeside Grill every Wednesday. I went a couple of times and rode by it a whole bunch of other times but have not see a post here in a while. Since the season is starting, I wanted to know if they are still taking place or if they moved somewhere else.

Thanks,

The Rhodeside meets fell apart for a variety of reasons, with a good part of that being the increased traffic coupled with the fact that so many people live in the outlying areas of the metro area.

A new series of meets started up last summer, and usually occur on either Tuesday or (more frequently) Thursday nights.  We have had one of these events at Rhodeside, but try to alter their location to try and increase the amount of participation of those that live outside of the beltway.
You can find the conversations about the meets here:

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

I found a new spot, outside, lots of parking, and almost home(Reston) on my daily commute. I was one of the biggest supporters of Rhodeside, seldom missed a meet-up, but towards the end I did not like attitude of Mgt, I got tired of the whiners saying it was too hard to get there blah, blah and I saw the crowd changing to a different mix, big talk, egos etc... Quite often I would go out to Reston after work, change, get one of the Ducs, then wander back out to the Rhodeside and I always thought it was a great ride not a hassle. Now I've got a smaller group of serious riders who show when they can, usually on Tuesday/Wednesday, place loves to have us, and there are some nice roads in the area for most of us to/from our homes Reston/Herndon/Sterling/Leesburg and a few from Woodbridge area(a haul for them). Rhodeside was still a unique place and it's a shame that it withered away but now with traffic the way it is I'm guessing it would be a real pregnant dog to get to - but honestly I don't know. - Gene

Rhodeside isn't really that bad to get to on a week-day evening as long as you live inside of the beltway.

We did one meet there last summer, and will most likely do one or two this year as well.  Just watch the weekly evening meet thread.

Exactly. These days my client is at Suitland Federal Center, so it would be GW Parkway to Spout Run and I've heard it's a real mess around 14th St bridge, then north to Spout Run. - Gene
