695- what is too hot?
«

i know this has been talked about a lot, but after my ride today my bike got up to 298 F. The bike has 800km on it total, is this because its still breaking in, or is that getting to the running dangerously hot zone? I'm going in for my first 1000K service check soon, should i tell the dealer?
thanks.

temps go down a bit after the break in period is over.
but they're still pretty high...
After I installed the termi system, I saw my temps drop drastically. It sucks that you have to shell out 1500 to get the bike to run right, but imho it's worth it. Also, I read somewhere that people have had some luck with the dealers getting them a dp ecu?

is that the full system or slip ons? i'll try to see if my dealer will do anything in terms of dp ecu.
thanks

Slip ons with ecu and open airbox. That's the only one they offer for the 695...
Good luck!

yes, but i was doing city driving, so stop and go, and even as i started to go, the temp seemed to be going up and up.

+1 on the full termis. I have an 07 695 as well that ran pretty hot (approaching 300F). After I opened the airbox , put the chip in, and added the slip ons my bike rarely gets over 245F.
It's an expensive mod, but there seem to be more and more reasons to do it. It looks better, sounds better, is lighter, and makes the engine run a bit cooler.

You're talking oil temp and not water temp. Most air cooled bikes do not have a temperature gage.

add the oil cooler on, the temps will rarely get over 250 again.

Keep in mind there is certainly harm to be inflicted by running too cool. IMHO, you should either add the oil cooler
, or the termi kit

When oil does not reach sufficient temperature moisture and other contaminates are not boiled out. Check your oil site glass on a cold day. That mayonnaise like substance covering the sight glass is from oil being too cold.
