2005 Monster S4R a whole bunch of changes.  Cant get the clutch gas outta first sync just right yet.  Few complaints. reverse clutch = no fun (i need to get this swapped back asap if you have a DIY let me know).  Not sure why the owner took off the Horn and front indicators.  Plus the rear indicators/taillight not working .... TIPS PLEASE.

Other than that LOVING IT too bad its rainy

a pic? but thinking he put the masters on the outside of the grip?

Sorry guys I was a bit tipsy when I posted. Gas, clutch means I'm having a hard time finding the clutch engage point and how much rpms I should give her to ensure I don't stall. The clutch is in racing config (up is for 1st gear down 2-5) and I want to change it back ASAP.

that's your gear shifter... clutch is left hand... maybe you should give some more time studying before riding ;)

Is the linkage still there or is the lever attached directly to the shift shaft?

well to avoid ? back and forth.

If you have the lever attached to a bar attached to the linkage attached to the shift shaft, turn the linkage over, ie it probably has the bar connection point above the shift shaft, put the bar connection point below the shift shaft.
Also you'll probably have to shorten the bar with the end joints as the reverse attachment has a longer pull.

If yo uhave the lever attach to the shift shaft, you have to replace it with the stock setup above.

The shifter is attached directly to the shifter shaft without the linkage bar.

Welcome.

hahah, a first post on the drink. I think you'll fit in here well.

Regarding you 1st-2nd shift issue, after your later post it sounds like you mean getting started from a dead stop.
- Though Ducs have a good bit of torque, they do like their RPMs on the engine. Try giving it a bit more gas, up to 3500-4000 RPMs before you start the let out the clutch lever. If course each bike is a bit different, but when it doubt a little more gas.

As noted by the others - it sounds like the Previous Owner (PO) replaced the stock shifter with an aftermarket GP shift. I'm not 100% sure that the parts Pepe linked to will fit, and it looks torn up. The S*R monsters like yours and the Dual Sided Swingarm monsters like the 620 have different rearsets, so the lever and link rod maybe be different. The little lever arm will be generic though.

But like Pepe said - photos! Bikes don't exist w/o them. And it'll help tons to sort out your problems if we can see what's actually there.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.
