Real Recognize Real

Hello, my name is Jack and Ive spent considerable time searching this forum for the past weekend.

My graduation gift to myself was to enroll in a MSF course and purchase a motorcycle. Well I've enrolled in the course, purchased gear, and I am fervently searching for my first motorcycle. I've learned a lot in my brief time searching through threads and I'm positive that the DMF community will serve me well as I attempt to learn as much as possible.

Best Regards!

Wow, there's been a huge number of new folks in NoVA.

So may or may not have found CAM yet:

- it's where all the DC metro folks hang out. There's another new guy in search of a bike and the gangs been happy to chip in scouring the ads. Pop in, introduce yourself and let folks know what you're looking for.

There's also threads for rides, social stuff and general shenanigans
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.
- '00 M900S with all the farkles
- '08 KTM 690 StupidMoto
- '07 Triumph 675 Track bike.

Welcome  [clap]

I'm also in NoVA.  Have fun with the MSF course and enjoy picking out your first bike.  A monster 620-696 would be worth a look.  I probably wouldn't go any larger than that for a first bike.

plus you can find them for around 3000 or less.  i've seen a 620 in good shape with moderate mileage go for 2800 off craigslist, although the prices on CL tend to be a bit of wishful thinking

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Really. I've only found M750s and M900s. CL sellers are asking $3k+ for M750s and $4k for M900s. I would quickly jump on a M696 for anything near $4k. I've checked cycletrader but there's no luck on that side either. Where should I be looking?

You're not going to find a 696 in that price range for a while... or one that is in the price range will be 'hard favored' and surfed some tarmac...

Get a uhaul truck and throw it in the back.

That prevents me from riding it AND breaks no laws. Veto.
