The only thing you can depend on is that what you see is not what the new bike will look like, exactly.  Ducati is pretty good at hiding details during testing.  They'll install dummy body panels, false covers, and sometimes even false components to keep people from seeing things they don't want seen.

Here's a better shot of the STREET version of the bike.  The first photo is the competition version sans lighting.

http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news-new-bikes/ducatis-2012-superbike-in-detail/18162.html

Notice exhaust under the bike (not under the tail), the long single sided swingarm, the stubby tail, and the complete lack of a trellis frame.  There are aluminum castings to hold the swingarm pivot and rearsets, but that's all I see.  Also note the "vertical", though in this case we should probably say "rearward" exhaust exiting the cylinder directly beneath the rider's ass.  Sexy 10 spoke wheels, too!  Also note the shock in a horizontal position next to the rider's left leg.

Lots of differences from current models!

So far, HIGHLY impressed with the engineering..  I think this is going to be revolutionary for Ducati in the way the XX9 series had HOPED to be (as opposed to the XX9 "Redvolution").  The clean-slate redesign may be just what the brand needs to get back into kicking everyones ass in WSBK again.  I cant wait to see more.  The plate mount/turn signals do look like somewhat of an afterthought though.  One can only hope they use some  bacon in the bloodline.

Couple things:  1- Article mentions the possibility of the bike being on the brakes, but the writer missed that the chain slack is on top clearly indicating deceleration.  2- Article mentions the 'un-loved' 999, and the rider's wearing 999 racing leathers! laughingdp
