Hey, just wondering if anyone has any experience with this fiberglass seat cowl being sold on ebay.

It's a hell of a lot cheaper than a carbon one and I don't mind a few extra ounces, and it looks fine the the pic, but I haven't been able to find any info on them.

You'd have to get brackets and thumbscrews, if you don't have them, and make sure the ebay cowl is made to mount the brackets.

Depending on your standard of finish, a paint job might bring the price closer to a factory piece or a carbon cowl?

Otherwise it should be ok. Or worthless because it doesn't fit. Hard to say.

I would get it painted regardless if it was carbon or fiberglass(not a fan of unpainted carbon fiber). I have the screws and brackets and it looks like the right type for a 695. My only concern is if it's molded like crap and doesn't fit. But I guess I'd only be out 50 bucks. Has anyone had a cowl painted? About how much did it run?

The picture is the same as Euro company Ricambi-Weiss is using.
It's probably the same product - a good one if so.

I put one of those eBay fiberglass jobs on my bike, no complaints other than the unreasonable amount of time the guy took to ship the thing.  Don't have a factory one to compare it to, but it fits fine, finished nicely, etc.  And if you really want to do it on the cheap-and-easy, the brackets to hold it onto the seat are a breeze to fab up yourself (they're basically just a 90-degree bracket, throw the cowl on the seat and flip it over to visualize the mount points and it will all become very clear).  Add a dollar or two of hardware and you're good to go.

I bought a gas cap from them, no complaints. Waiting a bit before I order for a belly pan.

The belly pans are cheaper on his actual website, IIRC.  Still haven't gotten around to ordering one...
