Hi everyone,

I just took my new M1100s on Monday. And start to run in, I have already ride for 100km till yesterday. But i keep smelling some scorch/burning smell coming out from the bike, is it normal?
And I fouind that the "N" light sometimes not on when the gear go to "N". anyone have the same problem??

herm

the smell is normal. some kind of oil left over from manufacturing (or is it a shipping protective?)

not sure what to tell you about shifting from "N" to "M"....
I'm here for a good time, but not a long time.

The smell is very normal for the reasons described above as well as the new exhaust burning in.

No clue about the N - M thing.

Enjoy!

i'm guessing hit hit M instead of N for the second one...

and it doesnt come on when you're def in neutral?  new gearboxes can be a bit harder to shift in/out of gear... needs around like 2k miles before it starts to loosen up nicely... could it be that it's just not in neutral and you're in second?

sorry wrong typing , is "N"....

Ducati has a famous false neutral

Gearbox has to be shifted vigorously.  You'll find it harder to shift correctly when the bike isn't moving.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

LOL, I love the smell of a new bike breaking in... but I'm weird that way...

it helps if you shift in to neutral while bike is still moving, just before you stop.

I would have the dealer check out the neutral light.  Being in neutral and not having the light is not the same thing as a false neutral, and yes, Ducatis need to be shifted with a degree of encouragement, but I've never been able to 'vigorously' shift into neutral.
