After plenty of toing & froing over the cost, how long I will keep the bike etc etc I just had Northside at Artarmon put the Termi's on my 659 at the 1000k service.........all I can say is WOW it is a completely different bike, not just the sound of course but the power delivery is much smoother, whole bike feels much more responsive......can highly recommend it

I'm all for making the bikes run loud and as fast as they can, just thinking the combination of the mods adding a little bit of power and making the whole bike a bit lighter will add up. Looks like if you add 1kW of power and loose 4kgs will be pretty close to no LAMS.

Ditto, i see what your saying and thats been my main concern since i bought the 659. Having said that if the police did pull you over theres no way they can prove that your over the power to weight ratio limit, unless they whacked out a set of scales and a dyno on the side of the road and officially tested it that way
i could be wrong

Yeah, unlikely.
Plus if they are going to do that, I would argue that the weight of the actual rider needs to be taken into consideration. My 100kgs would be close to making the S4R LAMS approved (not really but you get the point).
The main concern alot of people seem to have is the insurance companies knocking back a claim. I can't really comment on that because I've only ever had one insurance claim when I flipped my heavily modified ZX12R (definitely not LAMS, and no illegal mods mind you). Insurance company paid it out and even let me grab some add-on bits off the bike before they took it. They didn't seem to look for illegal mods, but that may be something that varies between assessors.

Spoke to northside mc over the weekend and they said they can do a stainless termi system for the 659 for $1500 installed. Its a 2 hr installation they told me and were very helpful. I think thats a pretty good deal! I might go ahead with that

Well its been a while since i've posted here, i moved to SA and they gave me an open licence, so, i De-restricted the little Duke.
Wow, it is like a new bike.
And as she is running in more the fuel econ is getting better.
The last tank i got nearly 300 from the tank, thats including 30 kays from the reserve.
The next thing is the pipes and ECU kit.
The guys @ Italian Motorcycles in SA are great.

Has anyone here been notified of a recall?
Apparently theres a possibility of cracks in the fuel line? have a look at the link down below, so does that mean the only 659's affected are the ABS models? It doesnt state the standard ones are affected...
I havent noticed anything like that on my 659 latley.
I better ring frasers tomorrow just incase....

Best to be safe and follow through, or one day you might get a real HOT ride. They can only say your OK or if not, fix it.
Its all good news apart from the inconvenience.
A few years ago my mate watched his 906 Paso burn down to charred lump of metal and rubber when his fuel line fractured (so his mechanic surmised later), he got some minor inside leg burns when he got fuel on his leathers from riding along not realising the engine was ablaze.

Given the rise in "heated grip" modifications in these parts, It wouldn't surprise me if it was a heating mod.

Hi. I’m Troy McClure. You may remember me from such self-help tapes as “Smoke Yourself Thin” and “Get Some Confidence, Stupid!”
NYTimes: "...highlights of his global tour include encounters with Nelson Mandela, an 800-year-old demigod and a dildo collector."
