"Rubber Pad" for front brake light switch?

The front brake light switch has never worked on the wife's monster.  It looks like its missing the part that goes between the switch and brake lever (the little plunger of the switch is too short to reach the lever though the MC casting).  On the parts diagram there's a "rubber pad" listed that looks to serve this function. #3 here http://issuu.com/ducatiomaha/docs/m620_usa_06_ed_01?viewMode=magazine&mode=embed

Anyone have a good source or DYI specs for one?  If not I'll swing by the duc dealer and see what they can do (or give up on the duc switch and use a hydro pressure switch).

Part number 195.4.002.1A lists for $1.99 from Ducati.  Go and see you local dealer for his price and delivery...or order it online from Ducati Omaha, Pro Italia, or another reputable dealer if you don't have one nearby.

Its about a 5-6mm long piece of 5mm dia rubber dowel with mine. Looks like somebody cut it from a piece of stock with a dull pocketknife or something. Not exactly a precision piece, whatever it is. However it is crucial to the proper operation of the brake light when actuating the front brake. Just won't work without it.

It's painfully easy to lose it when removing the levers. You really need to keep an eye out for it because it will fall out and bounce away somewhere and you will never find it again.

I'm starting to think now that the piece in my master cyl actually is a homemade replacement, by the looks of it.

Look around for a piece of something that might work while you wait for the part to come from Italy, odds are they won't have it at the dealer.

Perfect, thanks.  I'll see if I can find something to cut that would work.  Hoping to get it sorted by Saturday.

Actually it's more like ~4mm diameter and ~5mm long. It pushes against a tiny microswitch, and seems to not need to be any longer than what is needed to merely touch it. You could probably carve one out of a random piece of rubber that would work fine. Like I said before that seems to be what mine's made out of anyway.

Keep it and the microswitch free of bug guts though, that screws the function up.
