I'm losing my mind doing nothing all day... I've been working 12+ hours a day, seven days a week for the past five months.  I have no clue what to do with all of this free time.  Any suggestions?

Obviously you can write....if you are twiddling your thumbs....well write a blog or journal piece

write something about where you are right now and what you have been through...

write it in a voice you would want to use to tell your son...make him the audience  to write to

picture him at an age when you would want him to read it....and write it to that version of him

could help two ways....helps you sort through shit when you see it on paper....

and best case it is something you could give your son that could carry him through his darkest days in his life ahead

yeah its a pain in the ass to to do....actually it is a pain in the ass to initiate it...once you find your "writer's voice" ...

well sometimes it is hard to shut that voice up until it is done speaking...and you could wind up being make the beast with two backsed up and crazy like me with no real sleep pattern :-)

Sorry I can't remember... do you have your bike? Go for a ride. Go check out the scooters at the local bike shops. Always can find people to shoot the shit with at bike shops. [thumbsup] Just be glad someone isn't trying to shoot you or blow you up. [beer] Enjoy your time off. Grab a book you have been wanting to read, park your ass in the shade, sip on a cold beer and read. Enjoy not working 12+ hours a day, seven days a week. Watch the WSBK and MotoGP races tomorrow. It you've got the ability, go and visit friends that you haven't seen in years.  It's always a good thing to keep the mind away from topics best not thought about.

When I traveled a bit more for work, I'd take paperwork or news mags w/me and belly up to a bar.  Usually would end up meeting and talking w/nice people (only one stalky one once).

Plan out & build a man cave if you don't already have one.

I'm sure there will be some other "good" suggestions from the 'well-intended' bunch on this board.

It is harder than one might think.....
Why do roaches always die on their back?

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.

I've been running errands, working out, shopping (need clothes that fit), had a meeting with my lawyer, went out for a ride tonight, ate some sushi and spent an hour or so perusing books at Barnes & Nobles. Not to mention that I got relatively plastered last night...  God I love tequila.  I've just been doing what I can to keep occupied.  It doesn't help that I have to see her everyday.  It would be so much easier if she was acting like a pregnant dog, but she's playing nice (her normal response when she's getting what she wants).  I'm taking my son to the pool tomorrow, and hopefully will be leaving for Florida in a few days.

To add insult to injury, I went to go trade in my car to get a truck, got a great deal on one, but because this divorce has left me strapped for cash, I couldn't justifiably walk out the door with it.  If I had the $7,000 that my wife owes me, I'd be the proud owner of a new truck.  My credit is in the 800's and the dealer offered me over $11,000 for the car that I only owe $7,000 on.  With everything said and done, they took over $8,000 off of the sticker price.  But, without any money to use as a down payment, I'm not comfortable with how high the monthly payments would be.

To top it all off, it looks like I'll be paying almost $700 dollars a month in child support... I think I'm going to go make another drink.

How does a soldier afford all that?

Why should he have to and where did things go wrong?

Disregard my first suggestion please.    ;)

That sounds like a raw deal, Adam...  :P    Museums,  cheesy landmarks, etc...  Pretend to be a tourist and look at your city as an outsider.  Most people don't ever really know everything about where they live.  It can be fun to see it through others' eyes.  I've discovered a few cool restaurants that way.  [thumbsup]

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it
