I just got a 1997 Monster and the fork seals are leaking.  Problem is that i don't know if i have the showa or marzzochi forks, nor do i know what size fork seals are needed and google searches yield almost no answers [bang] ... so i thought i'd start here.  From what i gather, it's parts bin bike with no rhyme or reason or standard as to what parts are on which bikes so here's he last few of the VIN # are 001782.  Can somebody here help me?  I have a haynes manual but i the information i need is not there.  It only has the fluid amount and type, not what size forks or exactly how to identify the forks.  The top hex nut on the forks is a 17mm hex nut if that helps.  I just need to know which size seals they are so i order the right ones.

The Showa forks are marked with an S on the inside of the fork lowers.

You could always measure the tubes...the shiny part...with a caliper.

Call traxion dynamics, they will help you out and have all the seals etc you need.

Just re-read this.

The Showas have the 17mm hex on the top. The Marzocchis are much larger.
