Where does this hose go?

So I was giving my bike a look over and noticed that the hose off of the bottom of my charcoal canister is laying on the top of my horizontal cyclinder disconnected.  Anyone know where the other end is supposed to connect to?  I also noticed my bike has been idling around 950-1050 instead of the usual 1200. Not sure if the dangling hose thing is related.   ???  The bike is a 2010 696 with 5800 miles.

If I'm not mistaken, this could be a vent-to-atmosphere hose.

one end should be connected to the canister, the other end is open to the air... it's your breather hose basically.  so everything, if your described it correctly, is perfectly normal.

I see. I though it may have been but I though it was odd that it's not clipped in anywhere. It's just laying there. Unfortunately my idling "issue"  goes unsolved then.

a bit diff on the new ones... i had to mess around with my breather hoses recently so i had to check the workshop manual for the correct routing.

it normally just routes out of the canister and then is pointed up, not down.  no clips, it just routes up through the frame... they'll show you how to route the hose in the 696 workshop manual.  you can find a link to download it on this board somewhere.
