Rear Tire Slipping?

Hey Guys,

A while back I was riding on a tight forest rode when I hit a wet spot and laid down my bike. There seemed to be little to no damage at all. However the rear tire slides when taking turns now? The rear notches indicating alignment appear to be equal to one another. I can not see any visible displacement to the tire. The tire pressure is normal. The bike slips to the point where I cannot safely or comfortably ride it right now.

Any ideas what's going on here? Any tests I can do at home to check alignment?

Don't use the alignment marks on the swing arm.

A tape measure from the pivot to the axle is a better idea.

I don't think that's the issue though.

How old is the tire?

Oil or some other slippery matter on the tire?

Alignment can make the bike handle all wonky but won't really make the rear slip out super-easily.  Does it also spin-up too easily with throttle and slide too easily with rear brake?

+1      Maybe the wet patch was diesel fuel, verrrrry slippery, and can soak into the tire.

I would scrub the tire with soapy water then use sandpaper until you can feel there is no slipperyness.

Have you used any silicone based chain wax or other stuff on the 'bike, or Armour-All ?

Sorry to hear about your bike. If you just did a lowside, the bike should not be out of alignment... unless it impacted with something other than pavement.
