Spare Dual Speedo Dial ayone? convert to Dual MPH & KPH ....?

Has anyone or does anyone have a broaken dual speedometer that shows MPH & KPH that I could have the inner dial from?  Its the newer style dual dials, speedo & tac full sweep with lcd readouts for odometer temp.

I've imported a 2003 M 800 from Seattle into Vancouver Can. that just has MPH and no KPH, I've heard that newer US models and some can & euro models have both on the same dial.  I'd like to get a dual inner face of the dial so I dont have to convert (1.6 X MPH = kph ) or if someone has a spare KPH dial that I could use that would be greatly appreciated.  Has anyone done a similar conversion?

I do alot of city driving and generally just go with the flow or whats miles I'm using as kph ... which means i deffinatly in the ticketing catigory ...  [moto]

My '72 Honda is MPH and we converted to KPH around then.

I get by remembering

50 MPH is exactly 80 kph

and

60 MPH is just short of 100 KPH

Working out 60, 70 and 90  KPH limits inside the helmet whilst riding is a booger,
but every 10 MPH is 16 KPH if you have the time, or 10 = 20 if there's the Man on my tail.


When the changeover happened there were little stickers made to put on the glass, many just used thin strips of duct tape, or nail polish dots

I do it in my head as well.  On the Autobahn I just remembered that 160 kph = 100 mph.

I'm in the same boat with an imported bike.  A conversion would be nice, but you just need to know a few numbers.  Each are approximates and should get you by.  The translation comes easily after a few rides.

50km = 30miles
60km = 40miles
80km = 50miles
100km = 60miles
120km = 75miles
200km = 125miles

225 kph = 140 mph

although I suspect you can just re-program the bike to do mph instead of kph and vice versa.

I find that theres lots to be looking at and thinking about in city riding; so doing the conversion takes my mind off what's going on around me ... so Ide like to replace the speedo dial with a dual dial to make life easier and safter ...

I know what you mean. I recently attended a Ducati demo day and test rode a tricolore S4Rs which had a MPH speedo and I am more conversant with metric.

On my S2R1K I am pretty accurate guestimating my speed and use my instruments just to double check things. However, on the test ride the combination of new roads, new bike, and ticket happy LEOs kept part of my brain watching the speedo and doing quick 1.6 times tables to ensure I was not ticketed and to compare accelerations, braking, etc.   I am not great at math and these calcs were a pain while trying to enjoy the ride.

Oh by the way, the S4Rs is awesome!  Anyone that has one is very lucky.
