Bad design or worst design?

Seriously, did they forget some hardware or is this just the way it works?

DukeDenver

Not sure what im suppose to be looking at thats annoying?

The part of the frame thats chipped from that bolt. Common sense would tell me that the bolt should have probably had a rubber head on the end to avoid this. Instead everytike you turn your handlebars to the max it chips the frame more?

danaid

Agreed, mine is not as bad as yours (no large chip but a centered circle where the stop hits).  :-\

A rubber or aluninum pad would have been better than a direct strike to the beautiful paint job!

That's the way it is. Stop banging the bars from lock to lock like an ape and you won't chip the paint off the steering lock tabs. Or be a man and go find some caps for the adjustment screws if it gets your frilly panties in a bunch.

Is it me or do all the nouveau-Ducatisti 696 riders whine incessantly about nonissues of this ilk?

maybe you should go ask for a refund or file a class action lawsuit

Let's see, where's that middle finger icon, I guess this will do    >:(

It's you!   Pointing out that two parts are striking each other causing paint to chip off seems like reason to post a thread. Chains have rubbing blocks, fenders keep mud off things, how would he know that this is normal and not missing a part!

[roll] Your point about not banging the bars so aggressively against the stops is a valid one.  Your snotty delivery manner in making that point is somewhat less valid [thumbsdown]

Don't take it to heart mate. It'll be ok. A good way to stop your bike getting all dirty and scratched is to park it in the garage and never ride it.

I hit a bug or rock or something and it put a small ding in the paint of my bikini fairing.

Is there some kind of fairing I can install in front of the bikini fairing to deflect bugs and rocks and stuff?

Off the top of my head I can't think of a steel-frame bike that didn't have painted steering stops where the paint chipped off almost immediately (I've owned more than a dozen steel framers).  Its how most bikes are made. Cages too for that matter.
