2002 900ie Sump Filter Removal (not oil filter)

OK the nasty hex head with the oil sensor post in the middle which when unscrewed reveals the filter screen that catches the shiny flaky stuff, right side of motor below the oil window

NOT the OIL Filter we're talking about here

Underneath/below that filter assembly it is another smaller plug that takes a number 6 allan key...this plug looks like it screws upward into the sump filter assembly

Is it a locking screw?  For the life of me I cannot get either the filter screen nut/plug loose nor that little plug underneath the motor that appears to maybe do something annoying

Before I strip anything out going gorilla on it I would like any thoughts on whether or not, there's something I need to do is missing here first before attacking the hex nut

that mother is on TIGHT or it is being locked by the other little plug

Leave the allen screw on the bottom alone.

It will get you nowhere. It's a galley plug installed to block off a drilling access.

Put some road hugging weight behind that 21mm wrench. 

...or hit it with a hammer.

That is on seriously-something's-gonna-break-sorta-tight

I may throw a torch on it and customize the crappy silver paint

or borrow an impact wrench because if the wrench or breaker bar flies the wrong way it is subdural hematoma material

You'd be surprised the success you can achieve with a non flame throwing heat source.

Try a heat gun first.

Use a slap on the wrench if you're afraid to hit it with a hammer. An impact driver will achieve the same result as an impact wrench. I dislike air tools and aluminum parts.

They are indeed on tight.
The screen itself will also be very tight.

I use a half-inch breaker bar and extension so all that's going into the plug or screen is pure torque.

AFAIK, yes, his will have the seperate plug and screen.
