Been rollin with wounded gauges.   Would replacing them with a used cluster require a marriage with the ECU/immobilizer or is it simply plug and play?  No RED key to speak of.   Clock still displays RPMs so it's more of a convenience thing.   Options.tips.gauges for sale?

If you do not have the red key you will need to either buy a used set of gauges / keys / ecu, or have your ecu flashed to remove the immobilizer.  You could then buy used gauges without worry.

If you did have the red key, you could buy virgin gauges and mate them with your ECU.     Make sure when you do buy gauges to get ones off of a SSS not a DSS as the MPH will be off due to speed sensor setup differences.

Not what I wanted to hear, but big thanks for the response Ducatiloo.  I did search around and found the  collective information to be at a stalemate...  Some said that everything functions fine but the immobilizer would become inert and the light does not flash it's deterrent pulse.  I'll have to search further but has the specific chip on the gauge PC board been singled out that retains the wedding vows?  Can this be swapped?  thanks again.

The chip can be soldered into another board.  It will take someone with impressive soldering skills.  Maybe someone else on the board can chip in on the cost of doing this.

The seem to know the magic of various immobolizers from a microprocessor point of view.
For a "reasonable" price I think they can set you up with a new Red Key and cluster, etc.

Regarding SOS Diagnostic, I had already planned on getting duplicate black keys from them during a three week stay in the PNW.  This may be the opportune time to take care of the whole burrito....  Thanks for the tip.  I'll have to give them a call and see if it's better for me to provide the clocks.  Who's got one collecting dust?
