Sigh is this what I think it is??? =T

Bought my bike used 2 months ago. It came with a tank pad protector and I decided I wanted to switch to a clear one. So I peel the sucker off. Fast forward 2 days, new tank protector arrives and as I walk up to my bike I see this giant massive bubble on the stripe, wtf? I could've swore I didn't see it the other day. It appears it was on the stripe itself, and I pricked it with a sharp end and the bubble went away - but is this what tank swelling looks like???
I just caswell'd this sucker too, but I guess it was too late and the swelling already begun? What sucks even more is if it is in fact tank swelling, now I definitely won't get DNA to cover it since the coating was already applied, sigh...

Never seen tank swelling look like that. I'd have to say it was the result of you peeling the protector off.

Yea it almost looked unreal, but the second I popped it, it went away and every other aspect of the tank looks/feels normal. No swelling anywhere but I recall that paint "bubbling" was a symptom. I hope everything's fine...
If it's nothing, is it possible to peel off the stripe and apply a new one? Or is this under the clearcoat?

Not tank swelling, just an air bubble under the stripe.
The stripe is under clearcoat.

You are doing it wrong! That's a blister on your tank from you rubbing your man bits against the tank.

Gotcha - any explanation why that formed?

Odds are there is body filler right about where the bubbles are. My 900 did the same thing. When I stripped the paint off.... I found filler where the bubbles were.

that is not the tank swelling..
Thats most likely from you pulling off the tankpad.. the adhesive on those things are so sticky that it pulls up the stripe which happens to be nothing more than a sticker (under clearcoat).. this actually happened to me too when i first got my bike..
no biggie.. just place the new tankpad on and ride the thing.
btw, if the tank hasnt already started to show signs of swelling, i would recommend caswell tankliner as soon as possible..

ive seen similar paint separation (though possibly not the same, it was never on a stripe) but they were all on tanks that already had other signs of serious swelling.

Thanks everyone, I picked up the bike with approx 1000 miles... and applied the Caswell immediately. And then in the last 2 weeks I started using Star Tron.

FTR, I can tell you from first hand experience that not all tanks actually get the clear coat.
