ST2/3/4/4s Forks

Hello,
I am thinking about upgrading my forks to the forks from the ST2/3/4/4s for a couple of reasons. 

1. They are fully adjustable.
2. They have the same diameters as the monster (50/54). 

This would be handy as I would not have to bore or replace the triples and I can keep my above the triple dp clipons.

Three questions about the forks:
1. Are the ST forks longer in length the the Showas on my 2000 M900ie?
2. Anyone know the spring rates?
3. Are these an improvement over the non-adjustable Showas from the 2000 M900ie.

My current forks have RaceTech 0.9kg springs and proper oil.

ST3 forks are not fully adjustable.
Not sure what springs they have in 'em.

ST2, ST4, ST4s, S4, S4R all use the same spring, roughly 0.85kg linear.

The ST fork valving seems a good bit more plush than S4 and S4R.

ST2, ST4, ST4s, S4R all show the same part number for the fork leg, so should all be the same length.
S4 shows a different part number, but it's not a valid number according to DucatiOmaha website.
AFAIK, S4 is same as S4R.

These forks appear to be what I am looking for as I wanted them to be fully adjustable, same size as the Monster and linear 0.85kg spring!

I cannot see a down side.

Unless, the forks are undesirable for another reason, such as the valving?

Length of all of the ST forks are the same, except the ST3 might be different.

Not sure if they're long enough to work with your clipons above the triple.

I have non-adjustable Showas, which according to your chart would be 28 5/16" long plus 3/8" for the cap.  Total length would be 28 11/16".
The adjustable Showas, which according to your chart would be 27 5/16" long plus 1 1/2" for the cap.  Total length would be 28 13/16".

My forks are in the stock position and I have clipons from the Ducati Performance catalog.  I will measure my forks tonight to check against the measurements you gave.

For the record:
My front forks are at the stock location as measured from the bottom of the lower triple clamp to the top of the fork tube (excluding the cap) per the FSM for my Monster.  I will check my manual when home to verify the setting.

This measurement is 279mm.
The clipons are 27mm tall and are flush with the forks tops with the forks at the stock setting.

The length of the cap is significant, as it's length you cannot use to clamp your clipons to.

The outer legs of the adjustable Showas are an inch shorter, so I'm afraid they'll leave your clipons with nothing to grab.

But measure up what you've got, there's no guarantee I've measured all versions...

When I did my SBK conversion I ended up shifting the forks up a little under half an inch for that same reason, mounting the clip-ons above the triple. I haven't noticed any twitchiness in the front end, maybe a slightly faster turn-in but if anything it's a good thing. So keep in mind that a LITTLE adjustment isn't completely detrimental.

Artful, thanks for the info.

I have already raised the rear end of my Monster by adding 1" spacers to my rear hoop.  This bought up the rear of the bike a couple of inches. 
Dropping the front forks isn't an option for me as I have a nice balance between tip in and twitchy.  Actually, I wouldn't mind longer forks to play with the trail a bit more.

SS's usually have longer forks, the uppers on a set of SS fully adjustables are ~20" long.
