i would like to get my front wheel fairing painted black.  how hard would it be to do it myself?? i'm pretty much a novice when it comes to painting.  would it be very hard or should i just spend the $ and let a professional do it??

As a novice myself I would let a professional do it - the preparation is tricky. This piece MUST be perfect - anything less will bug you big time for a long time to come.
Another option is to get a black used one - even cheaper?

see how to section on how to paint your bike. Not hard, but a lot of prep work.
