Hey guys,

I thought I had understood this topic, but now am unsure as to whether I can combine a 53mm Speedymoto upper triple with a shimmed OEM lower triple.  I am trying to source the upper triple, but have just been informed that one, the geometry may not line up, and two, that Speedymoto does not usually sell its SBK Monster upper triple separate from the full kit.

Did I miss something here?  I thought there were more than a few members who have purchased and used the SBK diameter Speedymoto upper triple with the OEM lower.

Thanks for any help on this.  The triple is the last piece needed for my front end conversion (well, unless I want new brakelines..or new levers..or... [bang]

Not sure where that info came from.  That is the setup I am running on my Monster.  I did not have any problem finding just the upper tripple.

There are quite a few members that have done the conversion. However, there is no need to bore the lower OEM triple unless the forks have a larger diameter than 53mm, if that's the case I would just buy the complete triple for an SBK conversion.

I believe the stock bore on the lower OEM triple is just shy of 54mm which is why people have recommended using a piece of aluminum can to shim the lower triple for that conversion.

Motowheels used to sell just the 53mm top triple but it's listed as "out of stock" so perhaps Speedymoto decided to stop offering that option. Someone else might know better than me on that one.

Excuse me, I meant *shimmed* lower triple.  Fixed my first post.

Thanks guys for confirming what I thought I had read around here.  Hopefully it is not a case of Speedymoto no longer offering the 53mm upper separately.

I have confirmation that the 53mm version is indeed still available separately.  Not sure where my first retailer got his information.

Not thread jacking just confirming something before dropping $900 on a complete SKB setup for a Monster.  Have a 2006 S2R800 with the stock setup.  Can i use the OEM lower with the Speedymoto upper to house my 999 forks?

I guess his profit margin is bigger on the full setup...
