O2 removal 100 mile factor

hello, I have 06 s2r1000. I've read many posts concerning the removal of the O2 sensor, and many of them mention something happening at about 100mi. But I am confused as to what exactly takes 100 miles to occur? If I unplug my sensor and disconnect my battery, will it take 100 miles before I notice any changes or potential improvement? or will any change or improvement be lost after 100 miles? or something else? any clarification appreciated.
