I checked all of the valves and all were in spec except the vertical exhaust opener was .006" and the closer was .002" . I've read that I can leave the exhaust but should I get a new shim for the opener? It measured .260" so I would need the equivalent to about .263 to close it up to .003 or .004" correct? Where is the best place to just get the one shim?

Your local shop should sell you individual shims, but if not:   http://emsduc.com/products.html

Yo Mike, I've got a shim kit you can borrow. I can bring it to the track at the end of the month if want?
Or you can come pick it up if you want.

Thanks Nate,
I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. They should both be 8mm.

I don't think the 7mm's started on the air cooled till the 695's.

I just checked and the diameter of the valve stem is 8mm.
