Swingarm diagram help please

ok..did the but couldn't find it...I saw someplace on here that someone asked about the shims when re-mounting an s2r1k swinger. in that thread there were some diagrams. i could really use those diagrams but can't find the f*@kin thread!!! also i have to go to work. f***@k!!!!!!!!

help please

Not sure which year you have, though I imagine there's little-to-no variation in the swingarm design between years.

You can get parts catalogs from Ducati's website, which have the exploded diagram views.

Here's the swingarm diagram from the '08 S2R1000. Not sure if this is what you want, but if it isn't then the diagram you need is probably in the pdf it came from.

Thank you thank you thank you! You are absolutely right it should be in tech. I kinda put it here cause I am remounting because of powder coating and thought ..well I guess I really didn't I guess. I do have one other silly question about this...are the shims(?) that go on either side of the swing arm 2 different thicknesses? They just kinda fell out onto my lift.

Oh and my baby is an 07. Thank you in advance!

I don't have an S2R bike, so I'm not immediately sure which shims you're referring to.

Do you mean the shim that goes between the bolt and the bushing? The ones that live around the ends of the swingarm pivot?

Those would be the ones. Under the big honkin footpeg bracket and around the swingarm pivot.

The shims are different and they should be changed if needed - to fill the gaps and/or for allignment purposes.

I have the descriptions and will find them for you.

stopintime: Are we confused as to which shims he means? If he's talking about the shim that fits between the bushing and "special screw" (see pg.76, parts catalog) they're listed as the exact same part number.

(As are the washers on the inside of the swingarm [#15 in same diagram]).

Not number 15. Actually I don't see em on there at all. But a centering type of thing makes sense though.

The shims I'm talking about are those that go between the swingarm and engine cases, determining axial play.
(not sure if that's what OP means, but I'll go ahead anyway)

Stock shims are 1.8 mm.
Play is measured with a feeler or a .10 mm shim (extra shims are delivered as .10 and .20)

Push the swingarm to one side and measure play between swingarm and engine case.
If play is more than .10 - apply one shim on the right side.
If play is more than .20 - apply one .10 on both sides.
If play is more than .30 - apply one .10 left and .20 right
(if .10 steps means that one side must take more - that side is always the right side)

This is also a good time to check the bearings (placed in the cases) and replace if worn out, or just to be sure....)

For my own edification, are the shims listed in the parts catalog just the OEM shims installed "without wear," or a reference to a "shim stack," or have I missed something looking at the diagrams?

From what I have read on a different thread here on the forum, there is a thicker and thinner shim that goes between the footpeg mount and the engine cases. They could actually be called something different but I am calling them shims because they are super thin and I don't believe are used in the traditional washer sense. I believe either the thicker or thinner one goes against the case and it matters which one. When I removed the swingarm they fell away from the case before I had a chance to note which one went where. I just want to make sure I put them in correctly.

My parts catalog, I think they're all the same, but check, says on page 33 that these shims have reference number 15. There are three different part numbers though. One for each of the 1.8, .20 and .10.
