i think the smack talk is fun.

And I was upset as could possibly be when I didn't get to watch the USC v Georgia bowl game, and instead had to watch my favorite team make a mockery of Hawaii.

That would have been the best game to watch, IMO, and am hoping that something large scale like that pans out for this year.

USC should have been in the title game and would've been if it weren't for the worthless BCS system. The title game was a joke and we all knew it was going to be beforehand.

However, the one plus about last year was that because of the crazy # of injuries SC sustained a LOT of young players got good playing time and really came of age.  Hopefully the QB situation works itself out, but if not we've got a TON of great running backs to hand the ball off to.

Finally a USC fan.  You had better hope that your young players got some time because the big bad Buckeyes are coming the Coliseum on Sept. 13.  Mark Sanchez better get good at handing the ball off to the RBs because the he won't be able to throw against the Buckeye D.  Once again Beanie Wells is the best back in the country.

No really though, it should be a great game and I can't wait to see who comes out on top.

Well, I'll be at that game cheering my Alma Mater on.  Mark Sanchez is a pretty decent QB and he's got tons of experience and according to my friends who have seen them practice, he looks pretty damn good.

Back in, what was it, 03?  USC fans were THRILLED by the BCS system.  I know it wasn't you, necessarily, but acquaintances were shoving my face in the fact that SC was going to the championship and not LSU.  These days I hear a lot more of the 'worthless BCS system' talk from the Cali guys.

That's the problem though.  There's always someone left out that SHOULD be there.  Sometimes you catch the breaks and get it, other times it works against you.  In the end, the only real way to determine a true champion is a playoff system.  Until then, someone's always gonna be pissed and you're gonna have co-champions and then champions who maybe shouldn't be, etc...

Yes you can say that the only way to determine a true champion is a playoff system, but isn't the regular season the playoffs.  Lets face it if USC didn't get beat by 49point underdog Stanford they would have been in the title game.  You can't pregnant dog about the BCS if you don't win.

No, the regular season is the regular season, just like in every other sport on the planet.  Did you see the Boston Celtics get blown out by the Hawks?   Does that mean that the Hawks are a better team?  No.  That's just a ridiculous argument.

And yes, you can argue if you don't win.  Why would you argue if you won?   (and it's not like we haven't been the beneficiary ourselves)  That's like an attorney arguing a case he already won, what's the point of that?

You can say that the regular season is the regular season but if you are in a major BCS conference and go undefeated you are pretty much going to go the the titile game.  You might as well get used to it becuase there is no way that we are going to a playoff anytime in the next ten years.  The conferences don't want it the coaches don't want it, and the bowl advertisers don't want it.  I think the best we are going to get is a +1 system and that would be fine for me.  Also comparing basketball and football is ridiculous.  Football is nowhere near the same as basketball you play 12 regular season games in football and something like 30 ( I don't watch that much basketball) . Anyway you want to look at it.  If USC would have beat Stanford last year they would have been in the championship game over a 2 loss LSU.

Even if we had a playoff someone would still always be left out.  There will always be a team pregnant doging that they didn't get in.  It happens in the NCAA Tournament in basketball every year.

So you don't think the NFL model is a better system?  If it weren't for the playoffs the Giants wouldn't be champions even though they proved their mettle and showed themselves to be the best team (beating an 18-0 team in the Super Bowl no less).

I understand it's not going to change, but burying your head in the sand and accepting what you know is a flawed system is just dumb.  I don't care that SC didn't go to the show last year, they won two titles while I was a student - I've seen plenty of good times and I'm sure I'll see plenty more.  What I want is a chance to see if the schools that have "no chance" can actually pull something off and make history.  But, those teams will never have a chance because the Saggarin system says their schedule is too weak, etc.  Don't you agree that it's in the best interest for ALL fans, not just us lucky few who went to schools with traditionally strong programs?

Go Razorbacks!!!

Went to Louisiana Tech but grew up in Arkansas.  We have no professional sports teams so the U of A Razorbacks are the closest thing we have.

I agree whole heartedly that the NFL has it right (except for their overtime wich College does way better).  I would love to see a playoff. Im just saying it is not going to happen for  awhile.

Thought I would give this thread a bump.

Man if I was a Georgia fan I would be worried.  You guys have a good team and are ranked where you should be but your going to have to stop losing players.

I just hope my Ducks can keep a quarterback healthy... when Dixon went down last year... our season crumbled.

That is exactly why I thought Dixon should have go the heisman last year.  He was soooo fun to watch.  Oregon is for sure my favorite team in the Pac-10.

He really proved how much a single player meant to a team. But, people forget when it comes time to vote... unless your team is playing in a BCS bowl.
