All they would have done is win out and after beating USC -to me SC is the gamecocks not Trojans.  Wouldn't have been that hard.  With everyone else losing 2 games they would have been in.

They lost to Arizonza, UCLA, and Oregon State after losing Dixon.  All were very winable games with him.

He also would have won the Heisman.

;D

Nothing to add here. Let's just lock the thread and leave that as the last word.   [thumbsup]

That's a lot of ifs there.

Not a lot of ifs just one if.  With Dixon they beat the trojans without him they lost to UCLA who sucked last year.
It's a moot point anyways.  I was just saying I wish the Buckeyes could have played Oregon rather than LSU.

Sorry, one if and a lot of assumptions based on that.  UCLA is always a very hot/cold team and they love to play spoiler.  It's possible they could've gone to the title game, but far from a certainty.  Oregon wasn't THAT good, Dixon was.  If he doesn't have 3 great games, they don't win out either.

That was exactly my point.  Dixon was the most valuable player last year. They won games with him and lost games without him.  I  just picked UCLA.  None of those last three teams were that good. I am certainly not a Pac 10 fan or hater for that matter but I liked watching Dixon because he was very exciting.
I don't want to start a whole conference debate thing but the PAC 10 whether its fans want to admit it or not is just like the big ten.  Two, three or maybe 4 teams are good and the rest are mediocre.  Obviously Ohio State and USC are better than anyone else in their conferences.  You then have teams like PENN State, Wisconsin, and Michigan, Oregon, Cal, and Arizona State.  After these teams the rest of both conferences are nothing special.  Didn't Notre Dame beat UCLA last year? ( I think so but don't want to take the time to look it up).  They are not like the Big 12 or SEC which have good teams throughout the conference.

I guess we'll see two weeks from Saturday.
By the way just saw some stats on the big ten network.  Since 2005 the winingest teams are USC 34-5 and Ohio State 33-5.

Just one more thought.  Oklahoma got their asses handed to them a couple of times in the BSC championship games and people don't hate on them near as bad as they do Ohio State  why is that?  Yeah we lost two national championship games but we've only lost 5 games in 3 years plus one 14-0 season and a national championship 2 years before that.  Most teams would kill for the chance to play in the BCS championship games.

Maybe Barry Switzer threatens people with handguns?  I dunno...

As for Ohio State, I don't think people hate on them, but it sure is fun ;)

Maybe it's really their fans we hate?   [thumbsup] [laugh] [evil]

Well,

Both USC and Ohio State looked really good on Saturday.  Obviously Beanie getting hurt scares me.  However, I have a friend that covers OSU football for the student paper and he said that Beanie tore a ligament in his right big toe.  Since he can't injure it anymore than it is he will be able to play maybe this saturday and for sure against USC.  Our chances of winning against USC without Beanie are very slim.

I'm no medical expert, but wouldn't a torn ligament in one's toe really affect the way someone can plant their foot since so much of the force and weight is centered on that big toe?  If so, that's terrible news for OSU...

From what I heard is that sure he will be in pain but he played with an ankle and wrist injury all last year.  They will just splint it up and shoot him full of Cortizone and he should be fine.

I hope so at least.

That was just pathetic.  Ohio State should be banned from all future games of any importance because they simply cannot deliver.

Yeah that game hurt to watch... but not as much as it hurt to watch my Ducks barely eek out a win. Yikes... and another QB bites the dust.... oh man.
