New tires are good

i had my tires replaced the otehr day by The place formerly known as Flightcycles but run now by Nick AKA Speeddog.
the mich pilot powers had 7300 miles on them so they were due, i could have gotten another 400 or 500 miles out of them but the way i knew they were starting to go is that the rear tire was noticiably flat in the center, this is ok as long as yo are going in a straightline or really really leaned over.. but the issue was if you were only sliglyt leaned over you were on the "corner" of the flat and the rounded part of the tire, needless to say what you felt was a slight squirrly action in the tire on the transition when turning.. not the most inspiriing thing... so i figured get them changed now before it becomes a bigger issue, besides i figure 7k miles (1 year) on a set of tires is pretty good.
wow didnt' realized that new tires would make such a difference, the bike is now more comfortable on the socal highway and also the bike is just smoother in turns too.. forgot how that is with new tires.

Yeah, I'm about to throw a set of Pilot Power 2ct's on myself..
I'm running Power-Race medium-softs right now, and the problem with soft compound tires, (which I've been learning more and more about) is that the compound can begin to break down before the tread actually starts to wear, so you can't always tell just by looking...
Did you go w/Pilot Powers again? There probably a better tire for the road anyway, as the P-Races are more geared for track use...

i went with the same tires again the pilot powers as speeddog said, i mainly did this bc the extra cornering grip that the 2ct is supposed to give would be overkill for my particular setup on the bike, mainly bc i have both a centerstand and low mounts so really that extra cornering i couldn't even get to bc i'd be dragging stuff way before then.
i basically went with what i knew since they have been very predictable tires for me, in the rain and for my style of riding, commuting and general riding, no track and not really any super hard riding they are great. basically i wanted the performance if I ever get in that emergency situation where i have to make a very agressive hard maneuver, i know that these tires will stick since i've heard from people that they are a great ocassional track tire, that and the fact that i like the feedback the tires have given me as in if they are starting to slip they make it known that they aren't quite there with a lot of warning, at least that is what i perceive, i could be wrong.

Cool, good luck w/them..
I figure the 2ct's would be a good fit for me, as I do ride spiritedly semi-often...The Power-Races I'm running now are frequently ridden right to the edge of the soft compound, so I figured the 2ct with its soft outer edge compound be a good transition moving away from what I have now...
We shall see.. I'll post up a review after running them in...

Powers are always a safe bet as they are a great tire. I know quite a few trackguys that use them when the shred their slicks and although they don't last as long as the slicks they stick great.
another great tire I just got to try was the new 2ct pilot road, I have been on track with the old roads and they were really good all around tires but the new 2ct roads feel much more like powers (quick to transition). They are priced a bit high so I have only sold the one set but wow, nice tire. only time will tell how they hold up as far as wear and cupping goes.
I was inquiring about some intermediate rains from michelin for wet trackdays and was told they do not offer them anymore. Why? The power 2ct is the new intermediate rain. I guess that means they should be a decent tire in the wet

I always wait till it's like this before buying new tires, and always know it was a mistake as soon as I feel how much nicer the new tires feel (and and then go on to run them till the feel awful again too).

The place formerly known as Flightcycles
So, is this the "official" name these days?
big (I was voting for "That place that built Spideys bike" myself...)
