Looking for a Monster

So after riding it several times over the last few months, a good friend of mine has fallen head-over-heels in love with my S2R1K, and is starting to get serious about looking for his own bike.  He's an experienced rider (late '40s), but hasn't had a bike in about 10 years.  His budget is in the $4.5K to $6K (max) range.  I know he'd like to get an S2R1K, although budget may limit him to an 800.

He lives in Reston, but travels frequently to his dad's place west of Philly, so I've been monitoring CL for him, and sending along ads that look promising between here and there.  But I'd also appreciate any leads from folks on the list, that meet his criteria and might not otherwise be evident on CL.

Thanks,

Dave

There's a sport classic on CL right now for 6300... and another for 6500. The owners for the gun metal one's been trying to sell for a while now. Could probably get talked down.

-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.
- '00 M900S with all the farkles
- '08 KTM 690 StupidMoto
- '07 Triumph 675 Track bike.

Thanks - I hadn't thought about the SC, but that would be a viable option for him, particularly since it was the S2R1K motor that he found so compelling.  I've forwarded him both links.

That GT is a comfy bike.   [thumbsup]

There's also this:

But I'd have to go for this:

Best color scheme ever on these bikes.  It really looks good in person.

PM sent. I'm planning to sell my '07 S2R1K before next season. In his price range, too. I'm committed to rides over the next few weeks, and have to check the valves. But ready to sell sometime in October.

Dugrl's bike looks very nice, but it's out of his price range.  Even the GT is probably going to be too high unless the seller has some price flexibility - I've been feeding my friend CL links for about 8 weeks now, and pushed the envelope enough to say I think I have a pretty good feel for his budget.  But I hadn't sent him any Sport Classic links until today.  He's about 6'3" so he might really prefer the more relaxed riding position.

Thanks Gene.  I had actually passed your bike details along to my friend back in July, but it's outside his budget unfortunately.

Yes I figured as much. It also appears that many do not have the budget, I may just keep it and do some more mods this winter so it is even better on the track, yet still useable for the street. Donnie and I had a discussion last time I was at DucPond long those lines.

NOW NOW....Donnie and Gene have a relationship....his Ducaholism keeps Donnie from doing things to Gene that others might feel like they experienced....that having been said, I would expect knowing Gene that whatever is done will end up being tasteful as well as beneficial and not just idle $$ being thrown at a machine with little effect...
